I just have an imagination that the music is a forgotten subject in the world of HL, am I right?

I think the music is great and adds to the great excitement of playing, although it's just in the background and you are sometimes unconscious that it affects you. But for me, it's a very important factor in the game

How important, and what signification does it have in HL2 according to you?

:D Have no doubt in Valve Software!!:D

The music is the pulse of the game... without it, the game is dull for me. I notice the music whenever it comes on, and have the soundtrack CD ready for whenever it goes silent. Without the music, I wouldn't be able to play through Half-Life 2.

Yes, the music is a very important aspect of the game IMO as well. :)

The HL2 music is great. I just find that the tunes are amazingly appropriate, for both the action and the quiet parts. The music that plays in the canals, or after you bring down your first gunship, there are a few genuinely great tracks that make the experience even more amazing.

I heard a fragment of HL2 music used in the news on the TV about a month ago. It was a news piece about HIV I think.

The best piece is the last song in teh streets. When you fight the striders, god I love that song. :)

I really love the song that plays when you arrive at Black Mesa East. So much atmosphere :)

Isn't that track somewhere in HL1 as well? I can't remember. Quite embarrassing :( ;)

Yea, I love the song after you shot down the first gunship with the rocketlauncher, and when Winstons been hit right before Highway 17. But as mentioned, all tracks are great and fits both the actionparts and the slower ones

Theres much of the HL1 music re-used in HL2, and thats one thing I was very happy about the first time i played. Same with the hud-sounds and when you use medkits and combine energy outlets. I think it would be a great mistake if they would make new sounds for those things, but why would they?

The music wasn't memorable, but it really does help the mood a lot. You can't hum the music (it's impossible, I've tried...) but it gets your pulse pumping, your heart beating, really in the mood to... do whatever it is you're going to do, from extreme civil disobediance to shotgunning lightning-fast zombies.
