from what i have seen this is how i see it:

after black mesa the aliens over took that area and spread.

Gorden and barney and maybe the scientist dude become sort of mercenaries who fight to take out the aliens they brought to earth.

EDIT: barney seems to be leader of resistance so he is not with gordon.

gorden should be new to city 17 which sets up his intro sequence which could be a boat ride or something (like the monorail in hl1)

the combine are another humanoid alien species who came to help earth get rid of the aliens, but they are corrupt and nazi like, taking over the world

they got that tower thing that is eating the city.

gordon is involved in a rebellion against the combine to drive them off earth.

the g man will probalaly be the combine leader or something

i agree with you except i like to think gman is a good guy, just because i like him so much. but yeah he is probably evil

well its spelled gordon, not gorden.

Anyway they can't really be mercenaries working together because if you look it up hl2 takes place 15 years after the first and yet gordon doesn't seem to have aged. Thus he's been sleeping, frozen, whatever this whole time.

Barney seems to be heavy in the resistance movement since before gordon showed up. At least thats the impression i get.

forgot about that part

he seems to be the leader of the resistance.

maybe they work for g man to kills the speading alien invasion, and after they thought it stopped or something they took refugee in city 17

maybe its not really gordon, but a superrobotcyborg clone sent back in time to kill the REAL gordon!....:borg:

or not:-/

i think after hl1's end, the gman probably brain washed gordon (like REALLY brain wash him, like erase his memories) and he became a part of the combine project and worked alot on it, but then for some mysterious reason he figures out he's not doing good, so gman brainwash him again or does something to him that results in undoing the first brain wash and returning to his old self, the ony thing is he doesn't remember the part when his brain was washed. if he does he's probably gonna know some of the combines' weaknesses and such, and that's what the gman doesn't want!!!

i think he's gonna fight to finish the aliens this time, not like in hl1 where he was just trying to save his skin!

Or maybe like this:

- Gordy works for G-Man
- using Xen tech, G-Man's Combine starts to take over the world using fusion of Alien and Human biology and techonolgy (hybrid creatures and vehicles)
- what G-Man doesn't know is that a small group (Barney, Kleiner, Vance) escaped BMRF (HL:BS) and set up a resistance movement fighting against The Combine
- in City 17, the Xen launch a counter-attack against humans
- G-Man sends Gord to City 17
- possibly some accident - Gordon loses memory/snaps out of mind control/whatever that makes him forget all the time he was working for G-Man
- the fun starts ;-)

no one has said anything about 15 years. that part has been proven wong. you dont know how long gordon has been away.

u are being set in the middle of all the action, you dont know anything, about the situation and who is friendly or not. so i dont think there will be any intro

well in op4 you were thrown in the action not knowing wats going on, but there was an intro .... :p

Dude, stop watching Total Recall.

Ok, here's a novel idea:

Ok, so since HL1 there's hasn't been brainwashing or anything. You've been working with the G-man to contain the alien threat.

GMan sends you city-17 to combat their newest attack.

However, the combine are totally different than any Xen things we've seen. Turns out....they're a completely different alien race! City-17 is in fact a cover for a massive secret plan to bring Xen to earth, and the combine is trying to stop it! The G-Man, who is always walking a thin line between exploiting Xen and loosing control, doesn't want his precious plan destroyed, but the combine knows that if it succeeds Xen will be let loose on the planet and yet another planet will fall to the madness of Xen.

So after fighting your way through to the middle of the combine forces, you learn the truth! But then you learn the combine isn't just fighting zen, they want earth for themselves!!! So barney, who was helping the combine fight Xen, switches sides and the two of you must destroy both the combine AND Xen!!

YEEEEHAAWW

first of all, black mesa is more then we have seen in HL1, so those "scientists" didnt rebel imo, as long if we dont know who is behind the combine, and who/what is gordons boss/motivation then we cant go any further but to say that Gordon has beard

It would be awesome if Valve implements a new type of alien race into HL2: fanboys who spend 10 hours a day talking about the most irrelevant, obsessively stupid crap I've ever seen. And to combat them, Valve could put a "sunlight raygun" into the game that perfectly recreates natural sunlight, and shining it onto the fanboys would cause them to burst into flame because they haven't left their computer desks since school got out.

Friendly guy, aren't you krarg?

Edit: How about this actually? a race of self-important trolls who stick their oar in where it's not required, and insult people when it's not necessary. You deal with them by reminding them that they aren't quite as wonderful as they believe they are, telling them to behave and, worst comes to worst, banning them.
Whaddya reckon?

hm I think it will be like this:

g-man works for the aliens, bringing them to earth and stuff.

at the same time, he has gordon safely stored away, as a "backup plan"

he releases gordon in city 17, without the knowledge of the aliens. Gordon fights the aliens, being supportet by g-man, who he belives to be totaly at his side. At the same time, g-man discretly leads the aliens at gordons trail, while gordon slowly discovers that the aliens have some more connections with g-man than he could think of. Until the end, you don't know who the g-man is really loyal to.

Ant Lion Guard butts the shit out of Gordon's head and he forgets he works for G-man. :p

j/k

I don't recall the part where I said "By the way, I'm fantastically amazing. Bow down. Please?" HL2 will be what it is when it comes out. No amount of discourse on what would be most desirable to you, one person, is going to change the game in the end. So what's the point talking about it?
