If anyone here has seen the movie equilibrium u may see that hl2's story line is almost the same...

Comments?

I cant see similarities between the two. Please explain what is so similar.

and the idea that emotion/instict needs to be fought and controlled. However, Half-Life can't really be like Equilibrium because it didn't suck balls. I'm pretty sure that HL2 looks better live than the Equilibrium CGI scenes.

LOL - Equilibrium sucks ass. I got caught in a thread in steampowerd trying to tell people this.

1984 is the 'original' controlled state / faces on monitors etc. Go read it, or if you're not a book person watch the recent film of it.

1984 is pure brilliance and has inspired countless stories in modern society.

Half Life only has a borrowed atmosphere from 1984. There's none of the incredible depth and complexity or genius of the book.

Well I'm one of the people who actually enjoyed Equilibrium. The story is well told, and the director was very good at showing the emotion and thought of people through their eyes. If you dont believe me, look at Christian Bale's eyes throughout the movie. You can see a change. You can even detect who feels and who doesnt.

And yes, for those who think HL2 is a ripoff of Equilibrium, I have to agree it's not ripping off anything. 1984 was a well written novel that gave people an idea of what could happen in a totalitarian world. Many things have taken inspiration from this novel. Equilibrium, HL2, Battlefield Earth, as well as many others.

Equillibrium was decent. Kind of a cult classic around campus. Fits the same category as Boondock Saints. If you mention it and someone knows what you're talking about, they go from some average person you're meeting to someone who knows something about life. Except Boondock Saints was WAAAAAAAAAAY better. That movie rules!

The only similarity is the whole dictatorship aspect.

I loved Equilibrium and it is one of my favourite films of all time. On a par with The Matrix.
