HL2DM Public Chat qualms

Hmmm I seem to be experiencing problems with the showing up of text in the public chat on Half-Life 2 Deathmatch servers.. I believe I have the latest of updates and I don't think it is a problem with closed ports (my IP is running in a DMZ)..

What the hell is going on?

I can't:
- View the text posted by other players in the chat
- View the text that I post in the chat (and I don't think people see it)

Most of chat is pointless anyways.

Hmm on closer inspection it appears to be happening on a lot of servers but there are a few exceptions.. Can anyone shed some light on this problem?

You can thank the latest Steam update. It screwed up the chat entirely. =/

So yeah, you can't talk in HL2DM now (at least on the servers I play on). I'd be surprised if they fixed it within a month since Valve doesn't care about hl2dm anymore.

First it only affected linux servers. Second why does everyone always blame steam? Steam is what you play through not the makers of the game.

Just wait a day or so, it has happened before.
