What does this have to do with Half-Life 2? Not a lot, but I figured someone on these forums may think this is interesting. It's a Holgraphic TV. Check it out here. Screens and Movies included.

Official Website: http://www.fogscreen.com/

Movies: http://www.cs.tut.fi/~ira/wave.html (More Screens + Movies)

sweett...i want one....

prolly costs like 12 000$

beeeeeppp......

Looks great, but this really belongs in Off-Topic.

I wonder if it distorts images at all? Imagine playing HL-2 with that baby! o_0

This is like the final fantasy screens. They soon create hologram touch screens and evereything falls into place..

:d :)

This should be moved into the off-topic forum. Ironically this was already posted there awhile back.

Very cool.

But the real future is in 3D monitors. Imagine playing HL2 with headcrabs jumping through the screen at you!

pretty nifty, but the fog looks like its not very stable from looking at the movie, and i wonder if you have to put fog juice in it... or water or something.

not that great quality, wouldn't watch movies on it. rather use dlp dila projectors.

Off topic, but much better than another damn delay thread. Shows how quickly technology is advancing

Old news. Wrong forum. god I need another beer after 3 minutes on this forum....

I find this alot more impressive than that fog thing.

Why the hell would anyone buy that? It's just projecting light through fog, so you get far worse image quality at many times the price.

i'm not a fna of the 'fogscreen' but that other one is near holographic... its minipulating the air molecules above it, to project the image.. where as teh fogscreen more or less just projects an imagine on a thing layer of well fog..

This would make for a great ghost-maker, perfect for Halloween, but yeah as others have said the image is godawful as it is now so it makes a damn crappy TV. I'm sure they'll improve it over time and as the price goes down.

looks like a projector and a controled fog stream. not exactly anything that impressive

I think the heliodisplay is more impressive then the fog screen :)

yah whats special aout this. its not 3d and it has poor image quality. what makes it differnt from a crappy tv?

the fog screen is not really impressive. They will no doubt be selling them for thousands of dollars when its just primitive ol' fog. The Heliodisplay on the other hand, actually uses technology .. and I found it much more impressive.. still probably way too expensive with a fuzzy display. They are really only good for specific purposes.

Yeah, I've been hearing about this for awhile and it sounds awesome. Unfortuanly, it sounds so expensive that only medical doctors and the army may be using them for awhile. :( But, I want one.

As Alurcard mentioned... That's nothing compared to this project: http://www.io2technology.com/

Heliodisplay projects full color streaming video into thin air using a revolutionary technology that produces a 27-inch image and is Plug-and-Play compatible with most video sources (TV, DVD, Computer, Video Consoles). These non-holographic images are fully interactive allowing a hand or finger to select, navigate and manipulate them -- as if they were on a virtual touch screen.

That's right, projected into mid-air, no fog needed, and it's interactive - this is Minority Report sci-fi shit that's apparently real!

Oh, and moved this to Off-Topic.

Yeah, I agree. That's the real technological advance right there!
