How can I paly OFFLINE ???

I just bought Half-life and gone through the long installation.. and now I'm ready to play. Only I have to connect to Steam to play... why? I have 56k modem, and I have to be on internet just to play Half-Life? What are the 5 cd's for, if I can't play offline?

Or did I miss something.... help!

"Hoe can I paly OFFLINE ???" <-- Now... That doesn't reflect your spelling in the actual post. I find that rather odd, and quite a bit amusing.

You'll have to connect to the net to validate and start HL2 the first time, then you can start steam in Offline mod and run HL2 offline.

After you have registered the game, pull the plug on the Internet & Steam should autoadjust to Offline mode.
