after watching the extreamly gory Ravenholm bink, I can't see valve getting anything less then an M rating. what do you think?

Mature for sure. Half-A-Corpse Pinata pretty much puts it over the line.

Im pretty sure they said there being allowed a teen rating, blood and gore doesnt neccasarily constitute an M rating, Satanic symbols and Pedestrian squishing usually does mind.

According to Gabe it's actually heading for a Teen rating, but regardless, that's the certifcation boards' perogative, it's nothing to do with Valve cutting out parts of gore, or adding fluffy pink bunnies into the game.

If they wanna start making relatively violent and gory games more suitable for younger audiences, then so be it.

I absolutely guarantee you this game is getting an M rating. There's absolutely no question about it.

the main HL2 webpage says rating pending, i think it used to say teen.

M rating i hope!

this game is going to be realistic i know it is. so bodie blowing up maybe

zombies cut in half. monsters. killing people. blood all around. i would say "M"

I think Valve were using marketing strategies all up in their investors' hizzays

Investors really like it when the target consumer base is as large as possible

Any self respecting teen gamer wont have any difficulty getting there hands on an M game, at least not here in england !

Same goes for the US because I won't have any trouble getting it.

HL2 going to contain mature sexual scenes such as [Alex with her lazy teasing smile] :naughty: , more intense violence and/or strong language.

I agree M is very Awsome rating for this game. ;)

why do people care about the rating...if theyre not cutting anything, then everyone should just be happy.....if you want a gory game, get doom3

Ok, but if it gets a Teen rating, you will be forced to eat your hat by law.

It has to be M. I mean, look at the bit where the zombies walk into the fan. The cut in half zombies have bloodied human faces where the headcrab used to be connected.

Now, if they had gore plus fluffy pink bunnies, that would get the game an "R" rating or closest equivalent...

That's more American McGee's style, though...

It's going to get M, undoubtly.

Good they haven't cut any stuff - cutting up zombies and see their blood splashing is so.....satisfying! ...like painkiller..

shouldn't any game that involves killing another person automatically get an "M"? it shouldn't matter how you kill the person or how gory it is, the fundamental issue is killing someone...

Damn... no Pee-Gee rating. :( My mommy wont buy me HL2... ;(

HL2 will get M rating because the game is so good. Younger people could faint or even get brain damage from the greatness of the game.

Not this damn discussion again :-/

you know it's comming...

btw, what does it matter that HL2 gets a M or E or whatever..
Isn't the game "COOL" if it gets a E?? not "different" enough

Edit: oh.. some of you are underaged.. sry :)

Well, I don't have a lot to contribute to this thread, but one thing always confuses me. I see a lot of these games getting an M rating for trivial things. (in my opinion) My thought is if you KNOW you are going to get an M rating, why not just flat out go wonkers and add in all the gore people seem to crave anyways. I mean, if you already have an M rating for "simulated killing of humans" then why not have the simulated killing of humans with brain chunks dripping off the wall. What will they do, give you a M+ rating?

Yes, I realize they can take it too far and get the dreaded AO rating. (which is also idiotic in my opinion. If it's already rated for 17 to 18 years or older, WTF is the point of having an Adult Only rating?) Still, I don't think they are running that risk with a bit more gore/risque models. If it's going to be a mature game, MAKE it a mature game... that's my 2 cents.

Please calm down. :O

If Valve is not going to change anything to affect the rating, what does it matter if HL2 gets an E, T, or M rating.

I mean as long as we can do everything (and more) that we've seen in the vidoes, does anybody care if there is a T or M on the box?

Am I the only one that thinks that game ratings are as artificial as the Acedemy Awards?

What about a pour boy who`s only 13! and here in Norway they are following the rules... so i guess i will have to send 50 $ to valve and download it...

It's becouse the rating system has no moral value's.

Since they started issuing ratings they have been getting more lax every year.
