How do i bring up the console?

How do i do it?

I tried to ad -console to the shortcut, that didnt work, and i have changed in the controls, in the advanced menu, but i press the got damn key, and it wont work, please help me out.

I did a little forum search (which you should have done yourself...) and found this post by a member called 'footsteps' so thanks to him, he suggested this to someone else.

Right click on Steam icon in system tray, select Play Games, right click on Half-Life 2 icon, select Properties, select Launch Options, type -console, press OK, start game. Console will appear. Type:

bind f1 toggleconsole

Now your F1 key will toggle the console.

I'm assuming you can change F1 to any key to suit you. Good luck with that.

OK, now im pissed.

Now HL2 wont start, the Valve logo appeard and that guy with an aim for a eye, then the screen goes black, its says Loading and then the screen goes black again and my cursor appears, then it flashes and the game quits, aaaah, me so mad

tryied to download updates which Steam is doing automatically? becaus when i byied game i got this problem too, but after few updates it wroks perfectly now.

Anyway, try this.
Open notepad, and type in "bind F1 toggleconsole". Save the file as autoexec.cfg (make sure it's autoexec.cfg and not autoexec.cfg.txt!) and put it in the Steam/SteamApps/username/half-life 2/hl2/cfg folder.

Pressing F1 in-game should open the console.
