How do I record WINAMP?

I want to record songs that play on the internet radio.

My oldest brother, who is a programer, told me that you can record it, but I didn't understand his explanation.

While I'm sure I could plug the output from my sound card into a Home stereo CD burner or Tape deck, I sold my home CD burner and tape is obsolete.

I wanted to record it with my PC and burn it to CD to listen to in my car.

I have a few sound recorders

help

didn't there used to be a quick method to direct what winamp was playing to a recorded wav file? I'm pretty sure it works fine in older versions, i never bothered to upgrade recently though, i like it small and simple.

winamp has its own write-to-disk plugin ...
Dark Elf I think you should download the new version of Winamp. There is a critical security flaw in the old versions. Besides its better.

lePobz, I was searching through the plug-ins for hours, I still don't know what the hell I'm doing. lol. I just want to record Winamp and cannot figure out how. =(

Right...

1) Open Winamp

2) Go to winamp options/preferences (2nd mouse button on winamp, go options -> preferences)

3) Click on the Output tab on the left-hand menu

4) in the window on the right, click on 'Nullsoft Disk Writer Plug-in'

5) click 'Configure'

6) Configure the output location (where the files are stored)

7) Click close (make sure the disk writer plugin is still selected)

8) Anything you now play in Winamp will be recorded and saved in the directory you selected in step 6).

To disable this plug-in, simply perform steps 1 to 3, and simply select the DirectSound output, then click close.

Common sense, huh? :)

Thats what I'm looking for! Took me 2 very frustrating hours to figure out I needed to download the plugin too, in order to install Stream Ripper and get it to work, but it works!

It would be nice if Winamp had a big fat "record" button on the front.

I had a program called Internet Radio Recorder, but I lost it, besides it only let you record very few stations, probably more copyright bullshit.

I asume all this dodgy way they make you go through trying to get it to record something is copyright issues.

This is exactly what I was looking for though. A free way to record free Internet Radio. I knew there had to be a hacky way of making it work. All your base are belong to us
lol

Aright, I'm recording now... holy shit this is a cool song. =D

It's pretty sad my brother, who works at AOL, was one of the programers of Winamp, and I couldn't get him to help me out here, lol
stay tight with your family, becuase in the end, thats all you got.

Thanks everyone, especially fragger.
BTW are you the infamous fragger that makes mods and skins?
