How do you disable the sentry guns?

I managed to kill off all the soldiers. Now Im in the building where the sentry gun is. I pressed a button that opened up a console, but I don't know what to do. I do see that air is blowing into it. I've tried to stack tires up to block it, but nothing happens. Any help?

There's a big crate of grenades nearby ...

i've thrown about 3 of them, nothing

throw them IN the hole that appears after you open it up, and that same hole allows you to escape the building after.

Am I wrong to think there's a passing reference to Star Wars here? Try to remember, gizbug, Red Five didn't shoot a torpedo at the Death Star, he shot it into the Death Star ...

As it opens you lob a grenade (right click)IN and it should disappear behind the bottom section. Like throwing something into a bucket, the run back and 'BOOM BABY!'
