How Does The Preload Work??? Glitch!

i bought the silver edition
created a steam accnt
now its in the process of updating
really slowly i might add
anyways i didnt even see a preload thing and i have 3.2 gigs of .gcf files in my directory
does that mean im done?
whats going on?

right click the the tray icon and open the "monitor". it tells you whats going on

i understand that it justs says Half-Life 2 -- 0%

but i have all the .gcf files in my directory
3.2 gigs worth
what do i do?

close steam reopen. do it like 5 times until it works. if it doesnt i dunno. im going back to playing HL2 tnx

I'm at work at the moment but...

1. All my gcf's together are over 6 gig so you may not have them all and...

2. Did you copy the gcf's from a backup? If so, are you sure you've put them in the right place.

Don't flame me, it's often the simplest thing that causes the problems.

didnt download cs:s or anything else

OMG I just got up from bed its at 60 % its taking FOOOOORRREEEEEVVVEEEEERRRR i gotta play atleast the intro before I go o school! Canu guys tell me how awesome it is so far????
