I noticed in the screenshots there's alot of Antlions, so maybe how Gordon escapes from City 17 is through the tunnels they make (as seen in Nova Prospket).

Since the Citadel is out of commission, that could mean that there's no more power feeding the large supressors. The result is Xen (and I guess Synth) wildlife would be able to leak into the city. This scenario alone could recreate the tension and confusion that was felt in Black Mesa. :)

I've heard that there's a segment in Aftermath where Gordon and Alyx are trapped in darkness and Gordon needs to use his flashlight to illuminate enemies for Alyx to shoot. They could very well be in an Antlion tunnel like you were suggesting.

Antlions are coming in due to the barriers being brought down, thanks to the Citadel being powered down.

Since the focus is on how all citizens are supposed to escape, I think they'll find it pretty easy to get out. Its just a matter of getting out in time.

Doom 3 anyone?

Well in DooM 3 you don't point your flashlight for your ally to shoot monsters down... But that's a different story.

I think he was reffering to the point the flash light to help the scientist. Or something.

Well but it's different here... Or I'm just paranoically trying to separate HL and DooM

I don't know who said it first (someone did) but the Citadel was, among other things, one enormous thumper. Oh noes antlions.

Thinking about it, you could easily escape City-17 by the streets, but I'm wagering one of the following for escape methods:

Really fast train
Convoy of random cars full of rebels!
Captured helicopter.
Some sort of teleportation device??

Am I the only one that wants to see the age old cliché, motorbike and sidecar through the streets?

I don't think the rails would have power anymore.

All transportation via cars have ceased since Combine occupation. Unless the rebels can jack the tanks this scenario doesn't have much going for it. The only other vehicles are the buggy (wherever the Combine took it) or the mudskipper (parked at the docks by Black Mesa East...a long ways away).

Captured helicopter.

Good luck getting one of those to the ground without destoying the thing. Unless there's an airbase close by, this won't happen.

Considering the complications of the last teleport attempts (nearly teleporting Gordon to his doom; slow teleport sequence), I don't think it would be wise to try again; especially given the circumstances.

The best and simplist method is probably to just RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!! :D

I think it might be cool if your somehow teleported to Xen again, and you and alyx hop platform to platform with low grav...Man, imagine what the skybox would be like!

Returnin to Black Mesa... To Xen... How about we return to the past and stop ourselves in the Test Chamber?! :P

A diesel train!

That would work. We just need to find a diesel train now. :P

Come on, I'm sure they have a few cars hidden somewhere.

If they hid them, would they still work after all these years? The rebels surely wouldn't be able to drive around in the city with civil protection all over the place. And if you were to store vehicles properly, you'd need to drain all the fluids out of it to prevent engine damage. Yet even if a few managed to do all that, where would they get the fluids again? There's likely gasoline in the barrels that are all over the place, but you'd be missing oil, brake fluid, and even transmission fluid if necessary. Quite dangerous when you think about it.

Although it's a longshot, I'll admit this could still be possible if the citizens were smart enough to store vehicles in case of emergency. :)

[UBERANALYZATION]Well, diesel trains are peasy! All the trains at the beginning of the game go 'chug chug chug' and make diesel noises! :E[/UBERANALYZATION]
