how long till hl2 dm ?

Its gonna be so simple to get the basic mod running, it just depends on how perfect the mod team wants it before release.

I think an open source project would be better, get out the crappy first test quick then get all the hardcore players to make content.

Yeah, shouldn't be too long. Pretty much all of the resources from Half-Life 2 can be ported directly over, I'm not sure how much work would have to go into the netcode though.

so its not being released with the main product?

no it isn't unless it is one of the surprises Valve has mentioned.

i hope a HL2 DM takes a while...because i don't want a poorly made mod...i wouldn't mind waiting 6-8 months for a mod which has been well-made with many options model, weapons, gameplay, levels and modes point of view.

There will be many. Right away, as in the day after release, there will be some basic, hastily done mods, probably using CS:S maps. Later on there will be some with more thought and effort going into them.

what i really liked about half life's dm is there was some sort of interactivity with nearly each map.....like in crossfire, you could bomb everyone and shelter...or subtransit, the train...or the other level where it would flood the entire level and you'd be in safety...or starkyard how you could drop those stark things into that pit and watch people DIIIIIE

BRILLIANCE!!!!

i wouldn't be surprised if the "surprise" was that there was no surprise. valve seems to enjoy pissing off their customers

well all they have to do is change the code a little. If the modder is experinced Um.. about a week or two

It would be cool in hl2: Deathmatch if you can get the gravity gun and just pick the other player up and throw him across the map
