I've just finished EP2. I decrypted it last night, played for a few hours & then a few more today ....... and now it's all over. It was fantastic. I loved it. Best in the HL2 series so far. But it occured to me afterwards that all of us on here have spent many, many more hours talking about EP2 than we could ever hope to be playing it for. I guess that's what comes of being probably the most iconic game ever made. People will always be talking about it even in years to come.

It's ironic - Your compelled to get to the end but you don't want it to end! What's the answer to that? More HL2? Well, looks like we've only got one more episode to go in the current series. I think whatever happens Valve should make it the longest episode yet. Even if that means lots of little side missions & exploring of areas that are not strictly related directly to the main goal or story. Just to give us more to do. Acheivements is a good idea for that.

I'm personally quite satisfied with the episodes. I think the reason I don't get annoyed with the brevity of each release (wait a year, get 5 hours of playtime, repeat) is because I'm a very impatient, ADD gamer (so that's enough SP for me) and I love the snot out of HL's story (so it's very rewarding).

Plus I could replay Portal about 5000 times without getting bored.

EP2 felt short to me, I personal don't like completing a game I just got in one seating, I thought they say it would be closer to 8 hours but meh. I really did enjoy it up until the final part (not a fan of time trials), just wish it was a hour or two longer.

O/T
Plus I could replay Portal about 5000 times without getting bored.

I must say portals is the real come from behind winner in the orange pack for me. Every one knew EP2 was going to be good and had waited for TF2 for close to a decade, but Portals was a complete unknown. Would it be good or bad we could only guess. But in the end EP2 was great but felt short (IMHO), TF2 is a really fun game but spies sappers piss me off at times, but Postals was all funny and fun, I enjoyed my time playing it far more then the other two. I didn't care that I completed it in 1-2 hours because I was thinking of all the cool custom maps that are sure to come. Portals isn't about the storyline (even if it's storyline was great) it's about the puzzles. So, map pack plz.

By the time EPIII comes out I should have my new rig up & running (on 'Valve time' of got a huge amount of time to get that together!). Be good to play HL2 & then all 3 episode back to back with all the settings maxed out. Not been able to do that so far on my current rig so it will be worth going through the games again to see the graphical improvments.

I wonder if Valve will ever add HDR &the other new graphic FX to HL2? Console owner are getting HDR throughout. Lucky bugers. What would be good is if they did a sort of HL2 directors cut with achievements & a few additional areas. How cool would that be to play through again? :)

I completed it in 5 and a half hours.... short but VERY sweet

I found the achievements and the general gameplay/story of EP2 to be very re-playable compared to others of its series. I loved it. I thought the time wasn't wasted at all, the quality is very superior.

I found it to be a well rounded game. Awesome from beginning to end. The timing of the end didn't throw me off guard and I was very satisfied with the game. EP1 was different for me. I killed the strider and was like, oh that was the end? the boss? OK... Just came too fast and unexpected. Didn't feel like it was the end.

I didn't time how long it took me to play EP2. Could have been similar to EP1 or it could have been a couple hours more. Not sure, I didn't play it in 1 sitting. But it was awesome.

Is there a way to find out how long it took to complete? I know steam records it for the game stats on the steampowered website.

First off, I play it on hard. It irritates me how everyone states the time they played without a difficulty for reference. If you were playing it on easy, your time will be less than if you went slower, more tactically, and died a few times on hard. Finally..that's one of my main longstanding gripes with the hl games..hard is too easy. Its the same as hard on Bioshock, for example...but (to make the cliched comparison), one of the few things I enjoy about the Halo games is the Legendary single player difficulty (I've never owned a console and dont own halo, just play at friends' houses). HL's Hard is challenging, but I'd certainly welcome a "Very Hard"!

Anyway...Right now my steam page shows 9.9 hours. When I completed it early today (went to slept last night and left what I knew would be a DAMN fun strider/hunter battle for the morning), I had ~8hrs -- subtract deaths and ~30mins of figuring out how to get past the combine rocket-gun-turret-thing, and that's about 7hrs. EP1 gave me 4-5 (4hrs when I replayed on hard the other day).

For an episodic game that aims to be 1/3 of a full single-player game, I think 7hrs is a damn good value. For those of you who completed it in a few hours (or less), sucks for you if you're dissapointed. EP2 was paced better than anything Valve's ever done...perhaps you should replay it on hard, or not try to rush everything...

In the end...Throw in Portal, which gave me a solid 5hrs (taking it slow!) single player (plus 5/6 advanced) and who knows how many in challenges, AND the hour-less tf2...WHAT A VALUE! (Plus hl2 and ep1!!)

Finished in 4.5 hours. Started at 2:30AM (damned decryption process!) and ended at 7AM on the dot.

Check your SteamID community page, it'll have how much time you spent in Episode 2 this week.

5.8 Hours of Ep2, and I havent done the forest battle yet...
3.9 Hours of Portal, and I finished it and did some challenges

Havent played any TF2 this week, so I cant say...but I'd say somewhere around 6-8 hours...

Totally worth the $45 I paid for it...

Around 8 hours of hard. Just the right of amount of difficulty. Very Hard would just get ridiculous. Thats how Valve play it, having too hard just frustrates the gamer, its need to be hard but do-able, not save every 2 secs just to get through it was an inch of health.

I noticed that Ep2 was the hardest and most appealing of the series so far!

i completed it in 5.1 hours on medium difficulty.

Cheers. Didn't realise that infor was there

Episode 2: 6.3 hours

Portal: 4.9 hours

TF2: 6.2 hours
(strange, almost exactly the same amount of time as it took me to complete EP2)

Just finished Portal again in 1.8 hours...

Ep2: 5.9 hours. I think I got through about 50% of the achievements, a few little things I need to go back an do (namely squish more grubs).

TF2: 25.6 hours. Been loving every second.

Portal: Last level, 1.7 hours.

Think Ep2 took me 7.5 hours for the first run through, on Hard of course.
