well, I have never tried. And i wasnt aware that was the only proper way to play Half-Life. That takes way too much time to learn for me thanks. [\sarcasm]

Gauss jumping, and bunny hopping are not "playing the game properly".

In fact, there almost exploits.

Sure, there fun, they look cool, they can be useful and you might even need a bit of skill to do them, but they are by no-means "playing the game properly".

Any moron can gauss jump or bunnyhop, but what's the fun in it? Playing through HL SP isn't about that..
However, if you're talking HL MP .. people STILL play HLDM?

Wouldn't playing it properly be with out using cheats and stuff? And I wouldn't call gauss jumping an exploit, and its really usefull in multiplayer.

hmm...i most certainly can not play HL properly ...i haven't been able to beat nihalinth without cheating since 2001...is he getting harder or am i getting lazy? hmm...

i don't play hlmp, but i'd be interested in reading a tutorial on how to bunny hop; because, even tho i don't know how to play it, i'm still addicted to hlsp :stare:

You're post simply stated "can actually play Half-Life (1) properly?", now apart from not actually making any grammatical sense, you didn't even bother to mention SP or MP?

In SP, it is an exploit, they never intended for you be able to use it to skip large parts of levels in one jump did they?

And in MP, well, I'd don't think that was in the design brief either, but it's fun so why not?

Gauss jumping isn't an exploit, but bunnyhopping certainly is. Something left over from the Quake engine code, IIRC. :|

Actually I was ranked in the top 10 in the world at Half-Life Deathmatch and just wanted to see if any of you HL2 lovers even have a clue about HL1
