I want to enable runroll, runpitch, and/or runbob in HL2 because I can not stand the defualt hovercraft-like gliding! I want to run/walk like I do in id games. Is there some config file setting or mod to enable this? Someone make a mod if not... please?

I'd swear it already bobs, although i haven't played in a few weeks.

I would love to know how to enable bobing too :(

The weapon swaying while walking/running is just not enough. But HL2 is probably the only game where it doesn't feel bad. I remember Red Faction had no bobing and it was terrible to play, just because this little thing.

HL2 uses most Quake 1/HL console cvars, maybe trying the Q1 cvars will help? I'll check it out in a sec.

edit - nope, cl_bob, cl_bobcycle and cl_bobup do not work either. Seems they are ignored by the engine. If I recall correctly, I think I read somewhere that Valve disabled view bobing because playtesters had... motion sickness. The graphics in HL2 seem too realistic :D

It bobs in the stairs. I don't like bobing in FPS, though because it gives me headaches.

You're joking right?
It's not 'bob', it's just that your character takes one step at a time and there's no smoothing inbetween steps, he's just instantly higher, resulting in an annoying, shakey screen when walking up stairs...

But hey, it's not completely smooth like other games.

I don't move so freaking shaky while walking so why should I in a game?

Is bobing a problem in a game like Doom 3 to you too, Doctor? It's subtle in that game, but it exists and adds to the feeling you're actually walking.
And while you're walking in Real-Life (tm), look straight ahead but focus on the things you see on the left and right sides. What the... it's bobing! :D Simply you're eyes adjust to the bobing and you don't notice it. It ain't hard to adjust to bobing on a monitor ;)

ps - I could accept no bobing while walking in a game. But when you're running, your view isn't as stable as in HL2... it should bob or sway at least a bit.
