i have an issue with valve...

when half life 2 was released, one could buy it from several places, the key ones being online here with steam and pre-order it, or of course, out at the stores...

being the excited little bugger ever since the original half life was released i waited until half life 2 was released so the dust from the storm would settle and i could get on after most everyone had gone wild with the game, i bought a whole new saitek keyboard, and mx510 at best buy, and i caught the collectors edition of half life 2 from the corner of my eye. i read the back, and it states coming with a t-shirt, prima (cheap) 30 pg strat guide, and the single disk version of Hl2 all for 79$ (might even had been 89$ but i dont member)

its now oct 1st... i wanna play dod : s and guess what... i cant... i figured buying the collectors edition would allow me to play dod:s for free since it cost double that of just hl2.

anyone know where i can get a hold of someone from valve or something, cuz i dont think its right that i have to pay 19$ since i bought the "collectors edition" dammit.

Your problem. You didn't buy DODS. You're not going to get it without paying 20 bucks for it.

Lemme get this straight though, you read the back, and since it was similiar to the Gold pack, you assumed that you'd get DoDS? That's just plain ignorant if you ask me.

But yeah, you didn't buy Gold, you bought the retail CE.

Always read what you're getting via the box before purchasing. Not VALVe's fault you failed to do so.

Even if you ignore the idiot-factor... you still can't blame Valve because the rights of publishing DoD were given to Activision (before HL2), and Half-Life 2 defaulted to Vivendi (when they bought Sierra). Activision wouldn't want Vivendi to profit from one of their titles and Vivendi wouldn't want to give up profit from Half-Life 2 to Activision. So, you didn't see them in the same box. Now that EA controls both you have packages designed to get maximum money with minimum effort. You have the normal everything-except-DoD "Game of the Year Edition" package for $50... and you have the package that only has CS:S, DoD:S, and HL2DM for $40. Genius. If you already have everything but DoD, the best bet is to just pay $20 for it through Steam. If you don't have a payment method that works over Steam... that sucks.
