(I did a search and checked to see if anyone had noticed this already)

....but the Combine Advisor has attack animations! Have a look in the Model Viewer on SDK and it can stab out with it's tentacle-esque things....I just thought you would like to know.

No problem. I just thought it was kinda interesting considering you never see anything other than its face and it never moves.

Yes, we know, its been said over and over by many a people, but perhaps not in a single thread.

Sorry :o

Is it perhaps an indication of the expansion? Ugh...I feel like such a noob. :(

Dont :)

An expansion, i doubt it very much....half life 3 however...i dont doubt for a minute :D

Why would an attack animation be included with Half-Life 2 if it wasn't going to be used until HL3? I imagine you will probably see the Combine Advisor kill Breen (if he isnt dead already :sniper: :x ) in an expansion.....that is just my theory anyway....

Ah, true enough. In a way, I would have happily waited another two or so years to have been able to play HL2 as it was meant to be.

Half life 2 was played the way valve wanted it to play. Original story ideas, scrapped enemies, weapons and locations were scrapped because they were poor, and half life 2 is a better game for it.

Not true. A lot of stuff in Raising the Bar would've been amazing. When I read what they kept out, I was quite angry.

What'd they keep out?

The air exchange facility - a facility in which the combine were changing earths air to somethign humans cannot breath, hence people wearing gas masks in early screens.

Child factory - A place where children worked, it wasnt good for gameplay in the end, and had to be dropped because of the reproduction field.

Manhack arcade - Citizens played a videogame, little did they know they played manhacks killing civilians.

Kraken base - An underwater lab run by mossman.

And a load of other enviroments.

There were tons of enemies, cremator, combine assasin and so on, they all looked cool but they didnt play cool.

That is why they were cut, you can be annoyed all you want (deusexmachima) but its better for the game, they dont cut things for the fun of it, they cut them because they were no fun to fight, no fun to play in simple as that.

I’m certainly glad that wasn’t in… That doesn’t sit right with me at all… seems really silly. Like a bad episode of a Twilight Zone rip off… For kids…

I was literally listening exactly at the point in Two-Headed Boy that's in your sig when I read it. Crazy.

lol.

I thought the Manhack Arcade was genius. Citizens playing a game of Manhack where they hack up other citizens...oh wait. Its not a game eh? That really gave the game an even darker, sicker feel and that's really what I wanted. The cremator and combine assassin definetly could've worked out. I'm not saying the final product is bad, but I believe it would've been unbelievably better if they had kept at least some of these ideas in. I am glad the Air Facility was taken out though. And the Child factory...hmm. I didn't even remember reading that lol. Must've missed a page. But yeah, that's just my opinion.

Yeah the Manhack Arcade is twisted but it would have defiantly shocked me and pulled me in even more.

The Manhack Game sounds like a cheap ripoff of ender's game where ender, the main character, realizes that he's actually killing aliens instead of playing battle simulation games against his teacher. In the end, he blows up the aliens homeworld. About the combine advisor, all or the characters have attacks, even ones that don't attack in the game, and you can view the animations in sdk.

I knew that, many things had animations you never see in the game.

Maybe you were meant to fight the advisor at the end of HL2... Before it was cut :|

Or it could just be included for anyone who wants to put the advisor in a mod.

How is it a cheap rip off? Its not cheap at all. Who knows, maybe even geared as a homage to Ender's Game.

Have we all seen the burned bodies found all over C17? Especially in the Kanals. Do you think they were killed by the "cremator"? Even though he wasn't in the game..

I dunno, I guess it's just my opinion that plagarizing the plot of something and putting it into another form of media is wrong, like headcrabs from halo that came from halflife 1.

I think thats just the combine soldiers having a little fun, who knows. :flame:

I am glad Valve got rid of many of these ideas. They would have made HL2 feel like Daikatana (if you played that crap you know what I am talking about).
