Ok in HL after playing through it again
When you start the rail system a guard dude says something like
"Gordon, ive been waiting for you"
"A scientist(im guessing Eli-Vance) told me to tell you, you have to take this ol rail system up to a missile site or somtin"
"The military aborted the launch so you will have to get up to the control system and launch it yourself"
"He said that he needs a lamba team to get it up in space to clean up this mess"

As he said "To clean up this mess"

In a video, Alyx says something like
"We should have listened to my father and dont it has way"

What if alyx and gordon rebel from what her father wants to do which is to get a satellite or whatever up in space and then somehow "clean up the mess". What if...

Wouldn't be suprised if this was mentioned before, but hey..ya never know!

well, the satellite DID get launched into space already, you do it yourself when you fire off that big rocket into space

But I also believe he needs a lamba team to also get up in space and...well fix\make it work.

The satellite stuff is covered in Half-Life: Decay for Playstation 2. It was used to reverse the resonance cascade I believe. Considering HL2 comes about 10 years after the first (in game time) the satellite might not even be working. Dr Vance probably has some entirely different plan in HL 2.

Eli wasn't on the Lambda Team that wanted the satellite in orbit. He was one of the two scientists who you first encounter outside of the test chamber after the Resonance Cascade and, therefore, a member of a totally different science team working in a totally different area of Black Mesa.

The electronics contained in the saterllite was wasted when the resonace cascade occured. I'm guessing that the RC acted like an EMP that destroyed most electronics on the base

Like Bing said. The lamda team wanted the sat in orbit. Eli wasn't a member of lamda, he was a member of anomalous materials, so it couln't of been him

This can mean anything.

You are confusing Half-Life with Half-Life 2. The satellite was launched in Half-Life.

And Eli was the one at the start of half life, who told you to go seek help.

And that trailer from E3 2003, in which alyx says that, was just a mock up

Mineral does have a point though. I myself, after watching the "Kliener's Lab" bink, had the feeling that Gordon and Alyx decided to follow one of Dr Kliener's more risky plans instead of Vance's less risky plan.

Maybe the Combine shot it down

The combine didnt shoot it down, they werent there then.

And it wasnt shot down because everything at lambda worked out.

And esquire: that vid was a mock up for E3, its not in the game

Well I was just mkaking a point, maybe it was a diffrent scientist.
But ya never know... I'm guess it will have something to do with HL2.

Great, cos I'd prefer it for all the scientist rebels to get along.

I am sure they get along fine.

@Mineral: It dioesnt have anything to do with half life 2, its just something you have to do in order for the lambda team to send you to xen, thats all :)
