Audi TT. Thinking of buying one. Very seriously. Like make a decision this week seriously.

Anyone got one?

Edited because title changed, and I don't want to look crazy. :P

Lol, i so dont understand
I expected this to be a poll
On if you're gay or not
(the title was gay or no
before it got changed)

If it was, i'd vote no.
Whats an Audi TT
By TT do you mean T_T?

LMAO, awesome new title

id get a civic. im not picky.

by the way, TT's are hideous.

No.... get a Porsche Boxter or a Nissan 350Z, those are nice cars

Whats wrong with asking if a car is gay or not? If I chose a pink Smart car with zebra patterned fur seats, would that not be gay?

Anyway, I can't afford a Porsche or the 350Z, I'm talking second hand here....

Audi TT has serious aerodynamics problems, in Portugal there was talks of banning it because of some "unusual" accidents.

For the same money you can get so much better too.

Isn't that more to do with early suspension problems, which have now been rectified? IIRC those problems were basically caused by people driving the car too hard, not something I'll be doing.

Anyhow, its not just about performance, because the other car on my list is a BMW 530D touring. Its about style.

yeah, something like that :o They were rectified, yes, but I wouldn't really trust it.

:| Style is an illusion.

/me walks out of this thread

Audi TT is great for the tranny...other than that it's ugly (but of course each his own and that is my opinion) and the power isn't that good.

Edit:BMW is my pick.

Tr0n, Plato never said what's on your sig :p
OMGOMG!I know...I read many articles about that!!God...lol.I'll change it when I get un-lazy. :D

Also if your into euro cars and want to tune them here is a site that will give you some idea. ;)

Europrojektz

I hate tuning. this thread is my own personnal hell.

I'd go for an RX-8 you get much better drive for better value and they look better. They are a little thirsty if you use them to their full extent but when i took one out it was a lot of fun.

Why do you hate tuning then?

Just saw this...tuning sucks because it is very rare that anyone has the sense to only moderately tune something, people always try and go full bore on these things.

Saying that most moderate tuning annoys me because it is a prime way to increase the insurance onyour car, decrease its resale value and generally screw with an engine designers have spent millions on and people incoherently believe they can improve on it with a couple of hundred quid.

If done a lot the tuning can vamp up the cars bhp to a point where the chasis isn't stable anymore and the fact remains I manage to overtake most things on the road with my Punto 1.2 so when you are tuning some little fiesta it's more to look good in front of your mates which is part of a sub culture i detest. OR it is making an already sporty car more sporty which i don't think is that necessary. If you want a faster car save up and use the profits from a sensile resale plus some extra cash to get a faster model.

Very well said Rupert, and exactly my thoughts. Its the same for aftermarket skirts on cars that have been designed by artists.

Well for one I'm talking mainly about tuning the engine...I to am not really into the looks. Perfomance > looks.

Anyways in my opinion it's up to the person...I mean go out spend 5000 grand (american).Upgrade the valves, cylinders, cams, etc....go buy a turbo and you will have a car that can smoke most of those expensive european cars.Hell I know honda hatcbacks with lots of engine upgrades and only cost 15,000 (not including car) and they smoke vipers. So it's not about safety/insurance cost blah blah...it's about speed and smoking the guy next to you at a stop light.

Speed to crush yourself on a wall at about 300km/h. I see. Really bright actually.

Do anything for a adrenaline rush. :D Hey you gotta take risk...unlike you I'm not a afraid to.

But back to the TOPIC at hand....IF you want an audi tt then get one.Don't listen to us...if you like the way it looks or feels then get it.It's your money not ours.

Edit:Who was it that said the quote in my sig so I can change it.

Don't get an audi TT, it's just for gay designers. Get something cool, something that not very many people have, something that will impress the chicks... I dunno what a TT costs but i'm going to throw an Alfa Romeo 147 at you. It's very cool.

Alfas are nice looking cars, but they don't look pretty when parked in the hard shoulder of the motorway, waiting for the rescue service to turn up.

I've just been to look at some options today. Basically, I'm looking at a car around the £18 000 mark, with a £3 000 tradein for my A4. 15 grand then, spread over 5 years, my insurance will double to £1 600 a year, and my fuel bills will also double to around £2 500. Its a ****ing nice car though. You feel really cossetted inside, the seats are comfortable, everything clicks or snicks nicely when you press it. The rear seats are useless, although I don't care really because I won't be sitting in them :)

Test drive tomorrow of a 1.8T 225Bhp Quattro :)

Regarding the tuning aspect, there isn't a single American car I would ever consider buying, mainly because I like having the ability to turn corners. Which American cars can't do. American cars = long straight roads at speed. European cars = twisty roads at speed.

There is a large difference between fear and common sense.

They think a guy called Santayan, looking at the first article google pops up, but it seems feasible, you could have MacArthur on there but that isn't really accurate, it's true but not the source quotesman.

P.S. in response to the 'smoking' people bit, i too have a dangerous love of speed, as does most of my family who seem to flood the car market with designers, company owners and engineers but i still cannot stand the 'tuned' car. The Honda that can smoke a Viper shall not really smoke a Viper, maybe for a standing Mile, but then watch as the chasis peels itself away, a component fails or the car hits a corner, they simply cannot souped up in any safe or consistent way. Just take a look at what cars race in what classes, the reason you don't have little hatchbacks in super car races is because they fundamentally cannot withstand the strain of that racing, the reaosn you don't get muscle cars in rallies is because, once again, they simply aren't suited for the racing.

P.P.S I went driving yesterday and i guess i 'smoked' a few people with clearly souped up cars, the reason being i can actually drive as opposed to these goons that are driving death traps. These people may well ahve spent a lot on getting a car, tunign it and putting high octane fuel in the engine but fundamentally they often cannot drive. I live in an area that is flooded with cars like this (saying that this culture is becoming endemic to any city centre) and the fact remains these kids have spent a lot on their cars, they do go faster than a normal model, but they lack the reactions and ability to control what they have produced. So when i am feeling mean i can lag behind in my modest punto 1.2, then pretty much always catch people on bends or at junctions if the fancy takes me, which thankfully is rare. So i guess one of the main reasons I hate tuning is because the people who do it are trying to get into the 'performance car' arena without the skills or awareness to do so and generally make driving on the roads that little bit more dangerous and give a bad rap to those who choose to drive faster than those arbitrary speed restrictions in place on our roads but also have the ability not to kill someone while doing it.
