The reason I posted this is because I desperately want to see another City and another citadel in ep3. I mean, it is only fair that they give us a glimpse of what is happening further outside c17 rather than revolving around the same place all the time. It will also give us a greater insight into what is happening around the world due to the Combine Portal Closure.

What do you think? I'd really want to email valve this suggestion...

Why not, I would like to proceed through a city filled with fighting and ruins before reaching the arctic.

Why should we visit a new city right when we're urged to go destroy the Borealis and save Mossman?

Doesn't make sense!

Urban combat was one of the best additions to the Half-Life series. The E3 2003 demos show some excellent levels that unfortunately never made it to the final cut. Plus it will be an entirely different city in possibly a different part of the world which would keep it from feeling like an HL2 remake.

There are no other citadel's or any other cities. There is only c17. Well at least I hope I am right. it should be some giant conspiracy of some sort. I don't even think the Combine are some inter-dimensional Empire. I just don't like the concept, and if valve reveal yet another larger foe I will never play an hl game again.

I need to prove my theory...

Kliener says the destruction of the citadel in City 17 has disrupted the entire citadel network. Plus I believe a bunch of them fell from the sky during the portal storms. The one in City 17 was the main one though.

I don't see what the appeal is. I mean, we've been there, seen it. How different could it be gameplay wise? It would just be Valve recycling levels. Plus I really don't think it would be all that different, different culture, language, but it would probably seem like a smaller C17 I think

The point of the episodes is too move further away from civilisation. We won't see another city in EpiThree.

Hell, I'd just settle for a clear answer as to whether there ARE more Citadels or not.

...And whether Breen is dead, and who the G-man works for, and...

no, he said entire combine portal network. That could mean anything. Nova Prospect had a portal device, other places could also. Plus, if there was another citadel, then why would they need to destroy that citadel in order to ask for backup? No, I think there is only 1 citadel, judged by that, and that at the start of HL2, they say that this is Breen's main base of operations. While that seems a little insignificant, it would be logical that he would set up operations in the same place as the combine's main structure. I think that we will inevitably find another city, but it wont be as controlled as City 17 was, and with the destruction of the network, it is possible that the rebels would have a much stronger presence in these areas. What I'd like to find is those damn cannons that shoot those Headcrab shells. I'd like to either destroy one of them, or use it to take out some combine.

A city set in the arctic possibly. And yes, there are other Citadels. It was mentioned in Half-Life 2

Didn't see your post :P

It wasn't exactly mentioned, more suggested when Breen said "that Citadel" to which he was appointed as if there were others.

'I thought I saw the last of him in CITY 14', yes there are other citys, citadels and combine armys at work, wether we will see any renforcements from them is another question

There are plenty of Citadels on Earth - we've already been given that answer. A new City+Citadel would be so damn boring for Episode 3.

Personally I'm not hoping for a city. As Samon rightly put. Boring.

A village or something would be nice. Not quite as remote as Episode 2's White Forest Inn, but somewhere where there's alot of housing/buildings, but not too tall so you can see over the top of them. And in snow = Awesome :D

How can a new city be boring? It could be completely different from City 17. Where do you want HL3 to take place in? The desert? Then what, the Amazon? Under Water?

Dr Kleiner said:
The destabilization of the City 17 reactor has had repercussions that were not entirely unexpected, although we hardly dared speak this hope ahead of time. The destructive pulse forced a damper on the entire network of linked Citadel reactors. Thus, for the time being, I believe that all Combine portals have failed completely, as well as all communication systems based on that technology. In short, the Combine are completely cut off. Combine forces currently stationed on Earth are now isolated units – stranded. However, this is most likely a temporary state of affairs. As we once learned to our dismay, even the relatively tiny fracture at Black Mesa gave our enemies an opening which they were able to force ever wider, as they poured through in greater and greater numbers. In addition to the completely xenotheric species, there are many modified post-human allies still remaining on Earth who will be doing their utmost to re-establish lines of communication and supply with the larger forces.

No. Citadel network. kthxbai.

If you people want an snowy city with a citadel, you should wait for the next chapter of Minerva to be released.

woah woah woah, hang on a sec. What makes you think that because there is another city, there is obviously another citadel? Just stop and look, there is no specific mention that there is other citadels. hell, they could have 99 different cities around the globe, that doesn't mean that there has to be 99 citadels on earth. All it means is that there are 99 different cities, and combine controlled areas on earth. Hell, if there was multiple Citadels, then why is it so devastating that the citadel in city 17 gets destroyed? Sure it would slightly disrupt control in that area, but it can surely be reinforced by other combine forces. What is more realistic is that there being at least 1 combine advisor for every city.

Edit: Nevermind. Ninja'd

Citadel network

Omg!!! Do you not read posts??!

Narvi's already quoted the goddamn thing, now how much more do you want?!?!?

And it was disrupted because City 17 was the main one. Why the hell are you diving so deep into it?? It's just a story! Go ask Valve.

I doubt we'll see a city anywhere near the Arctic. Perhaps a small town or a base-camp.

Well, since we are moving to arctic that is probably pretty long way, so I hope we maybe fly over some cities, we might see some City 16 or 18. The monitors in White Forest show the base located at Ukraine or somewhere at Russia border, so that is long way.

Not actual landing to the city, but you might see a large city somewhere with little smaller Citadel, and having gunship come chase you. Then use RPG to shoot it down.

Hence my "Edit: Nevermind. Ninja'd" as in somebody posted just before I hit submit so my intended argument has been eliminated without my knowledge.

I think we'll be seeing small villages etc, just like what Druckles was on about, that would be really cool and why are people always talking about 'The Arctic' I think it was clear in episode 2 that Mossman was located on that mountain, there or there about, AND if HL2 is in Bulgaria it is very unlikely that we will be in the arctic circle already...

Well in the Seven Hour War, the Combine teleported Citadels into all the major cities and then flooded endless streams of troops out, thats how they battered Earths forces, deployed behind the defences of the cities. So those Citadels are obviously going to be still there inside those cities, and considering there are many, many capital cities in the world, there must be many, many Citadels inside them.

And no, another city in EP3 would just be stupid and wouldn't really make sense even if it tried, a deserted town and village in the snow would be pretty neat though.

I want a scene where you see Black Mesa getting blown up by a nuke, well, nukes are very popular atm (CoD4, Crysis, Gmod).

Why not :smoking:

yeah, some of this raises the question of "How are we going to get to the arctic?"

I really hope we don't see another city.

I was tired of City 17 areas by the end of Ep 1.

No.

We've already been through an urban environment not only in HL2 but also in Episode One, so it's time to move on. Valve decided to take the story to the outlands in Episode Two give keep the freshness level up, and now they're doing it again for Episode Three.
