Im going to sleep in the shop... maybe a day before the release, My dads friend (who is also my friends dad) is a manager of an EB store.

Because of the online activation I don't think people who do get it before the 16th will be able to play anyway though.

The thing is, Valve has already stated that they will release the game if a store sells it early. How would Valve know that a store sold it early? My bet is someone activating it online.

the first group of people to play hl2 will be the ones who dled it off STEAM. cuz if you bought it form astore you have to go back home install the 5CDS to your computer and than start playing (ETA 1hr)lol

Track which store sold it? Eh.... Next to impossible and not worth their time. And that's only assuming they keep track of the "CD key", and know which shipment of that paticular CD key went where, etc,etc. With millions of copies of the game being sold, it would be very difficult to do. Especially since the CD keys are most likely randomly generated. I don't think Valve would be the one to pursue it either, as the only "loser" in that situation is VUG.
