ideal texture sizes

as a question for you skinners, what are your ideal texture resolutions,

for example

gun (hand model) - 1024x1024
character - etc
etc

i think it would be useful for all of us!
 
for a gun- one 1024x1024 MAX, anything more is just plain redundant. Also 2 256x256 for spec and normals, again if u make a 1024 map for spec and normals, you are officaly an idiot.
characters-depending on how detailed they need to be, 1 1024x1024 for body and 1 512x512 OR 1024x1024 (this is for insanely high detail)for the head, or 2 512x512 for lower details. On a character you usualy want to make fairly high res normal maps, especialy on the face, 512x512 is a good size for that.
world props- i keep it at around 512x512 for most things, if its a larger object i might expand it to 2 512x512 or 1 1024x1024.
 
id keep 1024x1024 for props like vehicles and 512 for boxes , crate and such ...thereisaspoon pretty much nailed the idea ..basically all you need to do i vary it between 256,512 and 1024 ...the extremely small things like cans , debri go into 256 , crate and stuff that is a bit bigger go into 512 and chars and things that the player will be in close contact with go into a 1024 range.
