It is very difficult to think of something to improve epi two, as too me this is the best HL game so far.
The only thing I can think off of the top of my head is the whtie forest battle - I wish you oculd have taken a vort or rebel with you. As anyone else who was playing on hard, that whole battle, but particulary that ending bit where there is lke, 4 striders and about 12 hunters was ****ing hard. Some support would have been nice.

had less hunters, but made them stronger.

Improved?

-Less time dealing with the antlions
-Combine soldiers added during final battle (if felt strangely incomplete without them)
-Hunters less susceptible to physics damage

It was pretty much perfect IMHO. The only thing that disappointed me was that I was kind of expecting to see some more alien fauna, being the forest and all. I'm just so sick of antlions, antlions, and er... more antlions, even if they did add a different type of antlion in this episode.

As for improvement on existing features, well how about if the damn Magnuson Device also detonated when rebels shot at Striders. It was kind of silly that it only detonated if I shot at it....

Gameplay issue. Wouldn't be challenging enough if they could blow it up.

And seriously, am I the only one who would be totally content if I didn't see another Antlion again? They were fun to fight for awhile, and now I think it's time to move on to something else.

That's exactly what I mean. Give it a rest with the antlions already. The sad thing is they've completely waisted the opportunity to add more types of alien fauna. looks like they've completely overlooked that "monsters out in the wastelands" thing.
In Ep3 I'm 100% sure we'll be battling combine, zombies again:rolleyes: and that's about it... unless ATLIONS AT THE ARCTIC!!11:x

If they put antlions in the arctic it will take the piss. I'll still play the game end really enjoy it but it will annoy me. Doesn't make any sense. There is no sand in snow.

I just realized that for some reason, the signs where in English (road signs) for White Forrest.

I wish the White Forest battle were a little wider in scope. Just one short valley didn't seem a lot. I'd like to have seen more of a mixed battle: waves of combine troops, more hunters, etc, more tree-to-tree fighting, Nova Prospekt style.

I missed Alyx riding shotgun. 'Nuff said. In fact I missed her full stop when she wasn't around. Damn Valve for making characters so believable.

Variety. G-Man comp?res an hour of skits and performances featuring popular resistance comedians and post-Xenian genre bands.

No but seriously, though Valve are very good at mixing things up, Episode Two felt even less 'new' than Episode One did before it. A lot of the same old set pieces mixed into the same package. The Antlion Guardian was a huge let down, a barely tweaked, tougher version of the age-old guard with the same gameplay opportunities. I defy any Raising the Bar owner to not play through the game first time and go 'is he here yet?' around every corner, in anticipation of the Antlion King. Fair enough, the King may not have been a good enough concept to see into the game, but they could have done a lot better than the Guardian.

A lot could be done for visual variety as well. Identikit resistance faces are a plague, and the problem is compounded by Valve handing many of them expanded and unique roles beyond anything seen in Half-Life 2 (say for instance, Leon). Whilst the character of Colonel Cubbage was a happy coincidence of the loss of the original Borealis, would it really have killed them to give at least Griggs and Sheckley original appearances? Would have been great to see more faces in the gene pool in general, and a few alternative uniforms. The Combine aren't fielding Metrocops anymore, the resistance fighters are stationed miles away from those bastards, yet they're all kitted out in Metrocop gear. It's hard to defend that when we're always so quick to forgive Valve on the flip-side, with their reuse of weapons because that makes sense in terms of what props are being brought into the area.

-Have magnusson introduced in a more clever way. As of now he appears out of nowhere and everyone seems to know who he is.

-Remove the damn magnusson devices, replace with a more interesting strider-busting weapon

-Add combine soldiers and gunships in the last battle

-Give us a Hunter flechette weapon

-Hunter flechettes should not dissolve enemies

-more set pieces, especially more original gameplay.

Remove the stupid sprint nerf

And that annoying white flash when getting hurt from any kind of damage.

What is this Guardian you speak of?

There were just two normal Antlion Guards for me. One male and one female probably, as they looked a little different.

The glowing yellow one is the Guardian...you honestly didn't notice it in the caves? At one point the Vort even identifies it...

It has a specific cavern behavior (allowing it to attack you while moving), and always reduces your health to 12.

Thats what makes it different from the normal guard.

- Antlions are getting boring, the one thing i really didnt like.
- The idea about making Hunters more powerful but less of them is a better idea.
- Kinda just a request, but I loved the ambush scene in this one, so please add more in the future.

not to mention everyone in the world seems to be americans.
This could make sense in Eastern Europe actually. During the Portal Storm / Pre Combine era, areas of the world with less financial wealth would probably suffer greater depopulation as they cannot adequately afford to defend their urban areas. Meanwhile, countries that are better off start to see overpopulation within the walls of the besieged cities, so many people chose to move to depopulated world cities in order to rebuild them and enjoy a better quality of life. And then the Combine come along and herd everyone around anyway: perhaps they specifically demoralize American subjects by playing on old Cold-War hatred and moving them to an area of cultural and geographic distance.

That and we're playing the English language version of the game, and if there's one thing that video game voice acting is usually pretty rubbish at, it's 'Corazee Foregin Accenties'

Make Valve get better playtesters listening to the commentary it sounds like most of them are retards and holding back the game leaving us with the same old lame puzzles.I mean one playtester kept turning right and going the wrong way for half an hour. The Elevater puzzle was going to be harder than the ridiculous easy one we ended up with they might as well have not bothered.

How about some new aliens i mean come on it can't be just the Antlions that came to earth i never found them interesting to fight in HL2 and to be stuck with them though all the episodes. And how about less Zombies i fought them so many time i have no fear of them any more before when i heard the fast zombie coming i would get worried now just get bored.

Haha yeh, the playtesters did seem pretty crap.

Although I found the entire episode almost flawless, the Antlion tunnels did start to become repetative until you hit that large thumper area, when like zombies and antlions come out at all directions. I would have like more help at the last battle too, more rebels on the field actually playing a part, rather than this rambo theme they seem have delved into with Freeman.

It could've done with only one elevator puzzle rather than several. I got kinda sick of those.

The antlions and zombies got boring. I didn't get scared by the zombies in ravelnholme, now i'm just routinely busting them up.

I would like something different on the roadblocks scene now, though that ramp was fun.

I loved the last battle, it took alot out of me but it could of used some variation.

Antlions... *yawns*

The puzzles were too easy. Far too easy.

More Barney or at least some news of what he is up too.

-Trim the underground levels, trim the nest in general and tighten what happens down there. Less wandering shooting antlions.

-Unique skins of Sheck and Griggs.

Truth be told, I never get sick of killing zombies. It's just so satisfying to put them out of their misery, using all sorts of tools to do the job.

Headcrab Zombies have always been a staple of HL, and I'm pretty sure that we will find some in Episode Three.

But please Valve- no more Antlions! That Guardian was one of the biggest letdowns I've ever had for HL, and even the Worker was kinda meh after a while. Time to move on.

A little more variety in the skins would be nice. It's not something I think about really and all games suffer from this sort of issue.

The zombies were fine in EpTwo imo. They didn't have an entire level devoted to them, but were around just enough so that you didn't forget them.
Plus, didn't that guy in that car shed say that loads of zombies had wandered out of city 17?

Yes. I liked the fact that they explained how many zombies got into the Outlands instead of keeping us guessing.

Less of the nest part (I'd say 5 minutes tops to show off the environment).

Less antlions. The whole 'defend the tunnels while the vort works on Alyx' part was too long.

Hunters should be slightly more challenging. I was either throwing stuff at them (about 3 times to kill if you throw something heavy, like a radiator) or running them over.

The car should be less 'rigid'... add some springs to it or something ;) (I really liked driving the Warthog in Halo, for instance).

Sheck and Griggs were by far my favourite rebels.

And i like, how the rebels are using combine turrets and hoppers.

It was funny to hear the last dialogue between them.

1:Be adequate!
2:What does that even mean?
3:I don't know...it sounds like something the Vortigaunts would say...

On the contary, I loved that scene. Particulary when all 3 tunnels and the breach lit up with three lights.

Was it just me or did it feel like after all of the tunnel's sensors went mad and the Vorts came to help, the antlion horde attacking was smaller, then i expected.

1 light is one antlion unburrowing every second. 2 is 2 antlions unburrowing every second. 3 is 3 antlions unburrowing every second. :D

One problem with the shaft scene was how long the individual tunnels were. If they'd cut down the length of that and extended the full on assault it'd have been better. Still one of the better gameplay scenarios though.
