Improving FPS in Half-Life 2

Hey, I just got this game, and my computer isn't really that good, but it runs pretty good frames when I am just walking around somewhere around medium settings. When I get into a firefight though, the game loses significact FPS and somewhat hurts the gameplay. What is a good setting to lower in order to improve fps?

Yeah, I figured I would have to lower some settings, I just don't know which ones.

My comp isn't really that good.
2.7 GHz Celeron Processor
512 MB RAM
9250 Radeon PCI Card

i think its 128 or thats just the 9200 is think the 9250 might have 256

try upgrading your graphics card, the best you can get for pci is the nvidia 6200, which should give you good gameplay at medium settings atleast.
