in your opinion, are the hl2 vids from gamespot, filshack, etc. revealing too much to the audience that decides to watch them, are they revealing too little, or are they revealing enough without spoling anything??

my opinion would be that they're revealing too much. they should've released a bit less. the couter-strike source thing was cool to show us what the future of CS would be like, but thats about it. the other videos are making me feel like i dont want hl2 because i already know what its already going to be like and everything.

anyhow, post your opinion.

Even if I thought about it for a long time, basing all of the stuff we've seen from all of the videos and all of the interviews - there is no chance I could try and work out the plot line and be anywhere close to it. So in my opinion, no I don't think that's the case.

Naturally there are people that might have some parts worked out, but there is so much plot missing from the story it'd be impossible to hazard a guess.

maybe so, but it gets on all our nerves to watch all this, i mean, what they show is actual in game footage (except that g-man thing and phsych<did i spell that right?)) and it reveals a good 6 hours of gameplay as it is, unless this game gets to go through more levels of complexity and you're allowed to go out of limits and all doors open, which would be cool...

How is it six hours of gameplay? We've probably seen no more than an hours worth of gameplay in the videos.

hhmm......poll?

anyway. I dont think they spoild that much. most of them were action sequeses. and the calm ones dident spoil imo.

BUT! The first movie! The train ride. The start of HL2! How could they show that?!
HL1s start was a work of genious. And i knew HL2 would thry to beat/have a similar start. THis was one of the things that i was most exited about. But now i'w seen it. This was the only bit they could'w keept out.

Well then, i guess i'll have to gt exited about what happens in that interogation room then...........OMG! AN INTERIGATION ROOM! WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN THERE?!1?! IM EXITED! AAHHHHHH!

i think weve only seen a fraction of the game, and nothing too revealing at that.
Edit: the trainstation isnt the very beginning, we will be having a train ride into city-17 as homage to the cool start of half-life.

I think they dont tell you anything. the video stops once it gets to something interesting.

Exactly, that's about 1/36th of the full game we've seen. Surely not even the best parts, too!

I agree, we probably have only seen about an hour, tops, of in-game footage (legally and officially, of course). Consider that the game will probably be about 30 hours of gameplay, this really is only a small fraction. Take it from a different POV. If this is only a small part, think how diverse the whole product will be?

the average game length the producers said was something like 42 hours or something real close to that. with whats given, the mind could probably form like 30 different scenarios that could happen afterwards. if you put to fact that we've seen something given around 2 hours, and each scenario is something like 10 mins, we've seen like 30 scenarios..... sooo.... 6 hours ON AVERAGE of possible hl2 ingame stuff that is possible that we can imagine.

I menat everything that was train related. Theyr not that stupide to let us start in a train station without the ride in.

At Valve:
-Gabe: Ow crap! do we have a train ride sequese at the begining of HL2?
-Other valve guy:ummmm...no. I dont think so.
-Gabe: DANG! How could we have been that stupide! Ok.....ummm.....get everyone to begin making the train ride sequense. we dont want another delay!

i think the only thing i wasnt too pleased about was seeing the very start, arriving at the train station.

How do you know its the start? ;)

You didnt like that? I thought it was cool? Well i dont think they have showed us too much, they have only shown us about an hour or so of gameplay, and still alot of things we havent seen.

And he knows its the very start cause it is, same as first hl opening scene except hes arriving ata train startion

yeh it was really cool, but it wouldve been nice to have played the start not knowing a thing about it. that is, until gordon reaches...................THE CHAIR :O

The game is about 46 hours of gameplay (as seen from this website).

The only things that bugged me are the parts where people started talking... like in the e3 2003 vid with alyx and the proffessor talking and stuff.

the E3 2004 vid dissappointed me even more. They reveiled more about the plot (AND THE TRAIN RIDE ARGGGG).... well thats my 2 cents...

sry I had to write this on the run.

In the end though it's our decision to watch them or not, you can't really get upset with valve if you didn't like something you see. If someone is the kind of person that doesn't want spoilers or info that could put too much of the story together, then they should be smart enough to refrain from watching previews. It's the same thing with movies. They have to promote their game somehow, and I'd say the demand to see more HL2 content is far greater from the community than the demand to see less.

I think watching the videos over again make me want to play it even more. The game is sooo interactive, it's not flawless, but it looks like a damn good game. People at Valve actually put time and effort into this. It's like a movie, you watch the previews, but you still want to see the movie.
