Im getting an error about "hl2.ico1" file not found in "hl24.cab". I looked and its actually in "HL25.CAB".

I thought that it might have been a disk error, so I copied the hole thing to my HD and tried from there, same thing.

anyone?

Fixed....

Unistall steam and everything else... CS Condition zero etc...

What a heap of crap this installer is...

Hello BigBoy, you could a lifesaver. I've had the identical error message "error 1134 hl2.ico1 not found in hl24.cab". I did uninstall everything and try again but I get the same message. You say uninstall "steam" and try again, but I don't see how I can separate "steam" from the install routine? Isn't it just a directory?

What does "CS condition zero" mean and how do I achieve it? I AM connected to the net, but do I really need to be, if I'm only gonna play stand-alone at home?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm starting to panic....

Thanks for any help. :)

Okay, made a bit more progress - previously I had unchecked the CounterStrike tab as I wanted a quickest install, so uninstall (again!) and reinstall (again!) with CS selected this time. Now completed the install, but updating Steam files took ages - about forty minutes or so, and now trying to get my CD key accepted. Everything is bog-slow. Now find the Steam servers are down..... :x "please try later" ....

What a load of crap! Not very good at all - put the DVD in the first time at 10:15, now it's three hours later and I still CANNOT play the game!

I got exactly the same errors when I installed at home... I then had to uninstall steam and "counterstrike: Condition zero" again..

Didn't they test for these things?

Sales of "Condition zero" must have been bad if they didnt think anyone was gonna have this problem....
