installing a mod

OK I did get a mod called combine destiny to work but this was only cause it had an installer

any other mod though I have no idea what to do? example being a mod txt file tells me to place the file or folder in the same directory as the hl2.exe or the SourceMods folder...... these seem to not exist on my computer. A windows search comes up empty WTF??

I am useing the Orange box edition of half life 2 on CD if that means anything

any help or explanation would be great

Right ok, you have Steam installed don't you?

These mods require Steam to be used. Firstly close Steam. Go to 'My Computer', then your C:/ drive. Browse Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/SourceMods*

This is the location you paste the folder for the mod as the .txt readme file says. When you start Steam, the mod will be in your 'My Games' list.


*Note, on some computers it may be in Valve/Steam, not just /Steam, so if you can't see 'Steam' look for Valve, the rest will be the same.
