i am getting hl2 delivered 2 me with my ati card deal. should i pre load hl2 b4 it. i have a crappy 56k modem. also it is 18th august here y cant i pre load with my ati thing on steam? also i still need answers to WHY I CAN'T PRELOAD CS:S

if you're getting a disk, no real point in preloading. save valve the 4 KB/s bandwidth

Have you entered your ATI key into Steam? If you have there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to download CS:S. If there is a problem try contacting Valve.

where even at the lowest i get 180kbs and usualy get 400kbs.

So 4kb/s is crappy whilst 5kb/s is decent? DAMN ! i shouldnt have got broadband

I was going to get hl2 delivered to me but im like why dont i preload it and get it through steam asap. Then buy the collectors edition. Great idea for people who cant decide.

I have downloaded dozens of games, thousands of songs and a handful of movies on 56k. I have a mate who downloads at least a movie a week on 56k, and one of my 56k mates has about a dozen boxes full of music videos.

Lol.. I remember when 56K was for rich people. Of course, I also remember having 40 games on a single 5" floppy disk. (that you notched youurself to make it double sided. lol)

Yeah, but back in them olden days, games weren't 3.5 gigs. You could do it, but I sure hope your phone isn't on the same line.

See i use a very simple formula for knowing how long i will be able to dl it.
its this..
<Start DL when i go to sleep>
<Wake Up and pause it>
<See how far it got in how many hours while i was asleep>
Repeat till its done.

High speed (onsept for satelite) its not avaible everywhere, thats what alot of people forget.
Yes 5.4-5.6 is my average dl speed. Sure its slow, but i dont mind. Its a simple factor of leaving my comp on and dling it while im asleep. Its nothing big. Sure i get higher pings in games but i still do good and few people complain about me.(1/1000)
Sure i will have highspeed most likly by next year (May), but i will never forget the day of dling steam (the 300 some meg one), and have it screw up and then re dl it. Ahh, that day really pissed me off...
