is microsoft making a new handheld system ?!

In all serious, it doesn't sound like a handheld system, 'changing your life' and all that. It sounds like some sort of entirely new system architecture or even way of running a computer. 'Origami project' makes me think of DNA computing for some reason. D:

is microsoft making a new handheld system ?!

Of course. I've already said before that they plan to take over the world.

They - without a doubt, plan to have a wireless hand-held unit that controlls basically everything electronic that would be desireable to control.

Telephone, video phone, Camera, video camera, sound/voice recorder/editor, "MP3" player, answering service, phone number/buisiness card data base, computer, online service, video games, portable PC, internet browser, remote control for all the lights, fans, and entertainment electronics* in your entire house, etc.

*entertainment electronics meaning (t.v., stereo, etc.)

Meanwhile other large electronics companies will be fighting for the same user base. (this is good news for prices and technology advances)

Then Bill Gates will give the buisiness to his son when he grows very old, a grateful son who will himself spawn a bastard child of hate and insatiable greed, that will sell his fathers ( Bill Gates Jr.'s) fortune company to the Chinese or high bidding company from an outside nation so that he may spend a quarter of a billion dollars per day, becuase he only cares for himself.

And thus Gates bloodline is no more.

or something like that.

THE END

The part about the wireless handheld PC:

That is, of course, assuming the civilized world as we know it still continues to co-exist with eachother this "far" into the future (5 - 15 years) which is seeming more and more unlikely every time I watch the World news on T.V..

maybe some of the smart people reading this can make a difference for the better of the existance of the Human Being Type Creature

Yes, I've mentioned Hal 9000 in the same sentance as Microsoft on at least one occasion myself.

With speculation flying about what "fun new products" Apple plans to announce next week, from video iPods to DVR-enabled Mac minis, Microsoft has its own surprise up its sleeve. The Web is abuzz with guesses as to what the Redmond company plans to unveil at origamiproject.com on March 2.

The site, registered by Microsoft and "discovered" early this week, provides few hints. A Flash animation pops up three questions: "Do you know what I can do? Or where I can go? Or how I can change your life?" It ends with the text, "Learn more on 3.2.06."

Imagery of circuitry, clouds and office buildings has sparked rumors that Microsoft may be readying a new mobile communications device. Company evangelist and blogger Robert Scoble says he was unaware of the Origami Project site, but hints: "I do know that Origami is the code-name for a new kind of device. Oh, heck, here come the NDA police, gotta go!"

Scoble's comments may refer to a prototype handheld device demoed at COMDEX in 2001 by National Semiconductor.

"About the size and weight of a small digital camcorder, the National Geode 'Origami' Mobile Communicator is a flexible unit that folds and unfolds to perform eight popular consumer electronics functions in one easy-to-use device," the company said at the time.

Other industry watchers are speculating Origami could be a new type of wearable PC that "unfolds" to run Windows Mobile and costs under $500.

Analysts who have been briefed on the project are keeping mum on any details, building up the suspense for next week. "Expect that we'll have a lot to say about what it all means as well as the implications over the next few weeks," says Jupiter Research vice president

Changes your life? Origami Project?

ITS ****ING WINGS MOVE WHEN YOU PULL ITS TAIL!!

I went on and described the future of portable PC's. The oragami is not what I was describing to be clear. Im talking further in the future.

The problem is that to have a fully functioning wireless portable PC with a built in camera and microphone is the interface. This is basically already here. its called a lap-top computer. The problem with the little miniPC the size of a cellphone is that there is no keyboard. Sure you can have a touch sensative screen or a roller ball built in mouse, but portable PC's - in order to really catch on and take over, need to be at least the size of a QUERTY keyboard, so users can input data efficiently. Still, that would be pretty ****ing cute and I want one :imu:

ooo ive got an idea - have the 10-key (NUMLOCK) key arangements fold out the same way that the monitor will flip up. So you could have a PC the size of the spacebar style keyboard, and just omit the F1 keys, or integrate them by holding a Shift type key or whatever. The PC would be perfectly set up for the monitor to be widescreen, although small.

Oh shit, i didn't even notice the picture of the black little PC. That looks like what I just described. Wow the miniPC is almost here!!!!

Now what would you rather have? a fully functioning PC the size of a PSP (actually a little bigger) or .. the PSP ?

oo and i guess it comes in multiple colors, and when you close it up, you can still view the video stream like a little TV. Thats ****in banannas dude

gimmie

"Yes. We're calling it the XXX-hand. It integrates directly with your mind... and body. We're thinking of making more beach volleyball games."
