Is this normal?

There is one thing i dont like about source, its the lighting....
take cs for example....the flashlight serves NO purpose. If there is a enemy in the shadows, the flashlight does NOT light up the enemy player what so ever, it DOES light up the gun they are holding, that is it. What is the point? that doesnt allow u to see if their on ur team or not. Ive noticed things like this during HL2 also. so i took a picture and wanna know if this is normal or is it just something wrong with my PC.

if u cant tell, thats a rebel soldier hiding in the shadow, all u can see is his gun....

that's because the soldiers are small black holes.

Well considering I don't get this problem in HL2 means thats its probably down to graphics drivers, or even the graphics card itself. What model do you have?
