Issues with taking screenshots

Whenever I take a screenshot in Gmod (but not in CS:S) it comes out as a black picture. The only thing I've done with modifing screenshots is to edit console to bind the screenshot command to backspace, which produces a TGA photo, which was also black. The standard f5 makes a jpeg, and that too is nothing but black. Is there some .ini modifications I have to make to enable screenshots?

Have you tried the in-game "Camera?"

yes, it does the same thing. In fact I think it just in turn uses the f5 key, cause its jpeg... and also all black. Thanks for imputting though. Right now I'm using a third party app. It works, but I still am curious about this because the quality in the app ain't too great, and it minimizes Half Life whenever I take a snapshot. Inconvienent.
