It's just...meh...

Dark Brotherhood r0x0rs my s0x0rs. Lucien Lewhateverhisnameis is so cool... 'Brother, I do not spread rumours. I create them.' ...ah... the voice acting is great ><

Indeed, the dark brotherhood is the pinnacle of Oblivion as the Cradle was the pinnacle of Thief 3.

Yea I must have clicked the Rumor tab to hear him say that 6 times in a row. I was thinking that I would have made that sound-bite a part of the intro to the game or something - maybe in my mod.

Somebody needs to make an expansion to the Dark Brotherhood, id do it myself, but I have limited mod experiences. I do know how to make maps, but not much else.

I haven't even booted-up TESIV:CS, but I do things like improving textures, sound effects, and particles (all the magic spell effects and stuff), as well as increase performance of the game and some other things like game balancing.

Whether I'll be able to do these things on Oblivion, I won't know until I have finished much of the game. I want to play the game as it was intended before I change anything.

I doubt I would mess with creating quests, I leave that stuff to Bethesda, but I know that some people will - if Morrowind mods are anything to go by.

Lol at quote.

I think if quests are going to be on a pay basis, I don't want to wait for them to release them.

As far as what you said, I agree.. Except for visual enchantements and a little guard tune up, I have used no mods.

I personally think that making an addon quest would be great if it stuck to the general feeling and lore of how DB goes. I want to just keep on killing, you know? It would be cool if after you got the list for the week you also got one person to murder, so you could do it personally if you like.

On mods...

Those of you playing as a Khajiit should use the Night Eye toggle mod. I love it. Only used Night Eye once before I installed the mod. Once a day is completely useless, especially at only 30 seconds.

It basically turns the Night Eye Power into a toggle on toggle off thing.

Makes torches completely useless.

What? Night Eye is once a day? WHAT THE HELL?

I've been using it for aaaagggges. Often many times in succession.

I'm speaking of the Khajiits "power".

Not the kind you buy at the store.

Why don't you just type tlb in the console, and pick a good character next time

I'm just messing with you

guard tune up? That sounds like something I would want. does it make the guards level up to somewhere around your level - so they won't be total ****ing pussies when I kick their ass?

I have only murdered a few people, but that's because they were disrespectful. I will make a character taht murders anyone who says anything rude to me, but I'm trying to be civil right now. I hate when an NPC says something rude to me. To me it's the same thing as asking for me to kill them. (Don't you know who I am? I'm the Juggernaut Bitch! Look at this armor)

Being on the good side is great too, I go to one of the many caves full of bandits and perform gang genocide and sell all their armor - they always have some expensive gear on. It's a lot of fun dueling them - even if they aren't too much of a challenge. With a 2 hand claymore sword I can completely dissect them without being touched allot of the time. With a 1 hand sword and shield I have to mix it up with them, but it's allot of fun because the sword is faster and I can strike them in quicker succession.

What does TLB do?

Anyway, my character is a ****ing pwn ass. It's so much fun sneaking around alied ruins. This game is better than Metal Gear or Splinter Cell.

On guards: I'm pretty sure that the guard tune up stuff just makes their earshot radius allot smaller. So you can kill somebody while they're inside and nobody will be the wiser (unless a passing guard stops and the door and hears you, which I hear happens allot with those mods).

Was always 30 seconds once a day for me :/

Manual even says that.

EDIT: NVM. It's actually 30 seconds sans once a day.

Still, that's pretty stupid. You'd have to wait for it to wear off if you wanted to check enviromental lighting whilst sneaking. I'm popping that shit on and and off all the time, so 30 seconds doesn't work for me.

It is stupid...the fact is that very few characters will have so little magic that they wont be able to cast it endlessly anyway. It's the same as the vampire sight - makes much more sense as a toggle. I'd say both those mods (vampire sight and khajiit sight toggle) are a must in order to make the game seem a bit smarter.

I should download that.

Also the Captain Picard mod. That looks smart >>

Turns off all of the shadows. A dungeon will be as bright as day. Insane FPS boost, though, it's practically impossible to get an FPS below 50 with it on.

Yea, it looks pretty terrible inside dungeons - its so brightly lit that it's almost whitewashed, and everything looks much less realistic there, but outdoors durring the day you might not notice it so much. But at night - it's like everything is dark, but bright at the same time.

Try it and see for yourself

tlb

it turns lite bright ON/OFF when typed into console.

With my piece of shit computer, it's basically the only way to ensure that the game will run smoothly no matter what happens. Otherwise with my PCI card and oldblivion, the game dips to 6 fps in some places, while others are about 45. shame I can't just get 30 at all times or something, I could deal with that. So with tlb on, I get like 35-100 frames per sec

So I have to use lite brite to play the game basically. But I would think it would be similar to NITE EYE tbh. haven't tried Nite eye in Oblivion yet. ;p cuz i can see perfect with tlb :p

My performance is seemingly improving lately. I am getting 50 fps out doors running in thigh high grass. It's strange how my performance just seems to improve magically after a bit of scrub cleaning here and there.

Maybe I should turn down grass, that's what seems to be lagging my system.

The grass doesn't seem to be a huge problem, I turned it down a lot and slightly- no difference. At the moment I am just using 130 and getting nice grassy visuals with no lag.

I've turned the grass off on my game completely. Sure its nice if you're pc can handle it, but as a personal gripe, i cant stand Seeing the grass load up before my eyes... just takes away all immersion, so i got rid of it. Games fine enough without it tbh, and the herbs show up allot easier :)

Herbs are usually taller than the grass or generally just a bright color, usually you can't miss em. I sure wish though that they were more useful, I don't get the fun out of exploring as much any more. Nothing seems worth picking up.

I keep losing my arrows and bodies in tall grass >>

Why don't you roll a different class? Make another character with a totally different skill-set and see if you like any of it. :)

UIt's not just meh, it's the best game I've ever played, even though I have to play with lowest graphics in order to get it to work.

CookieCuttah said:
Hah, I am basically every class. There isn't much my charactar sucks at.

O RLY?

Can you make it from an Oblivion portal all the way to the Sigil Keep, without being spotted AT ALL???

Lol :P

My sneak is above 100 and I can just roll in and begin kicking ass with a sword. But fortunately I don't need to run for sigil stones anymore, I am done with them!

My sneak is also above 100, and I like to play MGS style, where you only fight who you HAVE too.

I play like that sometimes, but sometimes I just want to slaughter the whole dungeon. So I have two types of weapons- trusty sword and my large warhammer/claymore. I am developing blunt right now and I can't believe I didn't use it so much before, it's hilarious playing golf using a dog.

I <3 this game still, but I un-installed it and stopped playing because I can't get anything out of the game, because of my shit-tastic computer.

New computer this summer ftw!
