John Stewart calls out GOP for 9/11 Responder's Bill

Can anybody justify the GOP's position regarding this bill or is this as insane as it sounds?

It is an unnecessary bill that would dig us deeper into debt. The real solution is to cut taxes for the richest Americans. That way through the magical powers of voodo-, I mean supply side economics, the wealthiest among us could, through charity, pay the medical bills of our brave first responders.

That's all good and well, but what about the rich Americans who actually work their asses off for what they have? Take my dad, for instance. An attorney specializing in preventing insurance fraud, he's at work at 8AM every morning, comes home at 6, has dinner, and then works until about 11. Why is he not entitled to what he earns any more than, say, a person in clerical works or fast food? The bottom line is that he EARNED the right to become an attorney through hard work in law school, and he EARNED the money he has by working 16 hour days. Why should he be punished for that?

My dad is not a millionaire. He has a moderate house, and buys few luxuries. He's by no means one of the multibillionaires who could afford to be taxed a bit more than the rest of us. Yet he's lumped into the same category with them.

Who said that your dad isn't entitled to what he earned?

Is increasing his taxes by 3% to what they were under Clinton (assuming your dad makes more than 250K /yr) the same as saying he isn't entitled to what he earns? You think that 3% increase would hurt him in any way?

I haven't watched last night's daily show yet, will check it out today.

I don't even know what you're talking about...

Does anyone know what this guy's talking about?

Hes talking about how a 3% raise in taxes for his rich-f*ck dad will steal all his papa's money dollars that he worked so hard for. But this isn't a thread about assholes that won't spare a few bucks to help out their fellow countrymen, its about how assholes won't spare a few bucks to help out their fellow country men... oh. Hah, fancy that.

If ever I wasn't sure if I hated the republican party, this surely solidified it. They are heartless, evil, greedy shits whom I very much hate.

There's people out there that would sooner support giving the victims weapons and ammunition from taxpayer money than help them with their medical care. Yay for defense spending, nay for sensible spending for a good no brainer cause like this one. It's ridiculous.

I feel the same about most democrats at this point. Lets not forget this bill originally failed in the house because the democrats didn't want to force the blue dogs to have to vote on an amendment that wouldn't allow these benefits to go to illegal immigrants.

**** our government, I'm at the point where I honestly just don't care anymore. I'm going to try to get mine before the whole thing comes crashing down.
