Just a sneak preview of dm_heaven

Looks like a really fun map, though it's alittle sore on the eyes;))
 
Is that tiny speck at the bottom the buggy? This map is way too huge.
 
Super disapointed, there was me expecting clouds and a white castle.

Someone should really make that

Cut the guy some slack. Everyone has to start off somewhere. He says its a preview of the map so maybe he's not gotten to the texturing and details part yet. Perhaps he's just getting the layout down?
 
As this is my first map for hl2dm I know it sucks and it is not really heaven any more compared to what it was before with clouds and all.

But we all have to start some where, maybe if I had the time I might beable to make it way better.

So really now I know that nobody is going to play this map.

So it will probably never be released but just fade away into the shadows like many other maps.

Now I have one favor to ask you all before this map dies, please could you think of a cool name that could have been given to it if is was not to die as maybe one day when I have the time and learn more I will release it in all its glore with a new name.

All shall be seen.

Edit: Thanks Satch919 your right about it only being the layout, maybe only maybe there's still a chance for it somewhere.
 
I tried making a Toys R Us in Duke Nukem years ago. That's when I realized that map making was not for me.

Does anyone here work at a Toys R us or some other big store? They should model it. Think of how fun it would be to run around your store and shoot each other.
 
OK, I will help you as much as I can. I am not an expirienced mapper (having dabbled with a few UT2k4 maps) but here is my first tip:


Oh great. Imageshack is broken.But anyway, my first tip is to drastically reduce the playfield size. The main reason it looks so bland is because you have roughly a square kilometre of grass. Another tip: Search around for some different textures. You seem to have chosen the most basic textures for all surfaces. If Hammer is anything like UnrealEd, there should be a way to spray the ground so as to make it all look natural rather than repetetive grass texture.

Too big, too simple, needs more level geometry and fill in those huuge empty spaces with somethings just leaving them empty would suck majorly!

Make it smaller, itll be fun if its a little smaller, and the builing is just floating in clouds so you can fall off, also make it have fog =]
