Was all this with merc's visit to VALVe, The sectet page with G-man, just a trick? Beacourse I've read that on many HL2-sites... Please inform/correct me. And if it's not true, then I'm sorry merc.

Why would it be a trick?

It's commonly known that valve gives regular tours of their offices by request. But what would be the point of tricking everyone like that?

edit: Do you mean to say that this site tricked everyone by making up merc's visit? Because if that's what everyone's saying then they're full of it. And in that case, whoever supposedly made up this "trick" would have had to have been a pretty badass photo shop user in order to make all of those pics of merc in the valve office with valve staff members and whatnot.

Yeah, the whole secret page thing was an optical illusion.

Edit: Probably using smoke and mirrors! (And a sexy assistant)

A trick by Valve to make us think thay were longer than they really were, with Merc saying that he played the end.

They have finished the level design, the enemy and weapon design. They game in a sense is done. They are doing something called beta testing. Esentially they are looking for bugs and balance issues and squashing them.

Merc did play the game. And Valve didn't lie to you. They are polishing the game so when you play it, it doesn't constantly crash to your desktop.

Considering they started doing bug and content testing way back in like April or March, they've had the basic core game and level design done for quite awhile now. Also, just because it's the end of the game doesn't necessarily mean it's the last thing to go through the design process. They used merc's experience as well as many other playtester's experiences to create feedback in order to tweak and perfect their level design and overall gaming experience. Of course, this was all explained by merc himself if you'd read his threads.
