converting a movie to dvd doesnt make the sound into 5.1, neither does it make the picture quality better. unless u got some hi res footage??

I know some one who works for a video editing company and he can clean up the video to look pretty good, also he can simulate surround sound with a program he works with. I hope I can get a hold of him.

lol why not just wait a couple of weeks for the hi-res bink videos?

Ehm ... i don't see the point either.
The quality of the movie will still be the same. No surround, and still shakycam(tm).
But if you've got your hands on the HQ footage, I suggest sharing the wealth :D

edit: nm, i agree, wait for the bink videos and transfer those to DVD. No point in waisting a perfectly good DVD-R :E

I converted mine to VCD. Rox0rz on my 120" projector screen :D Plus with my 6.1 surround sound system, even though it's stereo, I can make it All Channel. :D

what i dont get is how can you make camera footage that is already recorded, into surround sound? since the game at e3 was probably running on a 2 speaker set up, and the footage is only recording that non-surround stereo sound, how could it even tell which sounds are coming from behind ect. ??

edit: sub, how did you convert it into VCD? i'd like to do this as well so i could play the video in powerdvd :)

Why not just connect your pc? How will you play HL2 on it?

Its a simulation. It takes the sound track and splices it into channels usually making the back channels lower volume compared to the front, and if done right you could take peoples voices and sounds throughout the room and put them on the back and side channels. None the less, a high quality video is the best to convert to dvd, conver to vcd if you want to run it outside of your computer.

www.google.com is how you convert it to vcd :P

That got me thinking.

It would be cool that once the new bink videos is out, somebody should compile very high-res video we have, make a DVD with menu and put things on such as the new LiveCast video and put it on a DVD (with 5.1 surround sound of course ;) )

That would be so sweet to have :D

I've actually watched the high-res strider seen and pretending I was playing >.> I was really messed up that day tho

You might have a problem with Valve itself, you should ask permission before you compile a DVD.
Although you could write a program that compiles the Bink files in a DVD movie format and adding a menu and stuff.

Meditate on this, I will ;)
