Killed the two antlions, now what.?

I have at last killed the two antlions and now what. Alyx and the vortigon just stands there beside the thumpertower, i can figure out that i have to get inside the fence and up that hill but cant get the machine started, so i can raise the door. So what do i do..please help..

Go back to the "machine"

Remove the hatch

Get in

Theres a pickaxe blocking a lever, remove it with your gravitygun (MOUSE2)

So you've killed the guard and the guardian and the antlions have all gone away... so you should have to just walk over to the fence with the door and they should follow. If they're not, then reload it and do it again.

Oh, and don't forget your Garden Gnome.

Edit: No, the vortigaunt needs to run the "machine" before you can get in.

No real trick to killing them, use the explosive barrels and your Shotgun to do
most of the damage and just try to keep your distance. After you kill both,
head to the elevator by the mineshaft on the right hand side. Once the
Vortigaunt opens the gate, climb up the ladder on the lefthand side. Watch out
for any rocks that drop when you are up here, continue to the right. Head up
the small hill and kill the Black Head Crab, then turn around and head up and
on to the top of the elevator. Break open the door and drop in and remove the
pickaxe and the elevator will drop. Once Alyx and the Vortigaunt are inside,
head up.

Yeah, but didn't he say he was stuck after climbing the cliffes to the elevator?

Nope. Alyx and the Vort are stuck by the thumper.

Try and push them out. Works for me when they don't wanna move, then the Vort should do his magic on the generator to open the fence.

I have the same problem. I can "push" Alyx, but Vort won't budge. I've reloaded the game and rekilled the anlions several times, but he's stubborn.
