Killing guards

If I kill a guard, not a named NPC but just a "Imperial Guard", will another one take its place? I see loads get killed in the woods and stuff.

i think a new one will respawn or something, im not too positive though.

I think any random NPC gets respawned after 3 in-game days. 3 days is the reset time for most things.

I think its only 1 day for guards to respawn. At least when I went on my guard killing rampage I killed abou 30+ guards in the imperial city, then rested for 24 hrs and a lot were back. Of course they died also.
