Killing the Hunters

Hi all. Just playing through EP2 for the first time in a year or so. Still amazing. So yesterday I killed a hunter by (I assume) projecting their weapon back into it may be with the gravity gun or may be deflecting them with a barrel. Im not sure exactly what happened although their own weapon was fired back into their own body, it then sparked and it died.

Basically, how do I do this?

When the Hunter fires it flechette at an object say a barrel fire it back at the Hunter with the Gravity Gun and it will disintegrate it.
