Ok. So I was playing Dead frontier thinking about how slow the action was when I had the idea of combining L4D with DF. The basic idea is that the game would be structured like DF with a central outpost from which players can leave to explore and scavenge in the city in groups or alone. Once in the city the game would be like L4D with the added scavenge, class, and other RPG elements.

I don't think a leveling system would be a good idea(If there is it would be limited and subtle), but there could be several classes and there would be items that give boosts to game play elements (Flared magazine wells decrease reload time). So in that manner it would have some TF2 elements. Items a group scavenges can be sold or used to heal or make weapon or equipment upgrades.

There would be several different game types. There would be free roam where you and a group go out to explore and scavenge while facing infected. Rescue: where you and a group fight to a certain point in the city to bring back some trapped survivors to the outpost. Defense: where you and a group defend the outpost.

But this would not be like WOW where hundreds of people occupy the same server. Individual missions, and levels would be isolated from each other allowing the small group feel, although there could be high capacity free roam servers where several dozen players could be out in the city at once but the misions would probably be limited to around 4-8 players.

Classes would be few with only slight difference in skills. There would be a Fighters class, which would be skilled in all weapons but their medical, mechanical, and other aspects would be lowered. Then there would be specialist class that sacrifices a small level of weapons proficiency for greater support skills (medical). There would be no class specific gear only slight difference is their ability to use them.
