When you first see the rocket dr Magnusson wants you to investigate some stuff. Go up on the platform where dr Kleiner was standing at first. There's an open hatch. Lamarr will jump in and hide, looking nervously at you. You can close the hatch after he has entered (but not open again, lol).

Does this mean Lamarr went up into space along with the rocket? How sad...

You also have to put that gnome in the very beginning into the rocket
you have to carry it all the way from the beginning. it's just an achievement though.
