LINKSYS router lag online

So i remember the problem with HL1, playing CS or DOD. Turned out to be my linksys router. Every minute or so my connection would freeze for 3 secs, and then continue. I appended "clientport 27005" to the shortcut on my desktop, problem fixed.

But i tried that with my HL2M shortcut, and it didn't work. I would really appriciate advice on this one.

Yes, Its definitely the router... linksys's website gave instructions on how to fix the problem for HL1, but i can't seem to take care of this for hl2.

eliminate your router. then you know if that was the case

Eliminate the linksys router.

I have had nothing but trouble with the ones I have seen. Get a 3 Com, NetGear, or D-Link.

i tend to get high pings in hl2dm(100+). In cs, i tend to ping below 70. Are there any settings that might fix this?

i too am a victim of this, wireless and xp go together as well as oil and water, for gaming anyway. so i now have a 50 ft cable goin from here to the modem downstairs and still get packet loss, choke and high pings with no choke or packet loss, its a nightmare. seems to get worse as i play also. so i checked the connection it self, every test i can find 370k, no packet loss etc etc (perfect running condition) but for some reason anything steam related lags...please fix this. and i can't get rid of router
