Little confusion about combine thing

Let me get this straight the structure is a combine fortress right, and combine soldiers are fighting with humans and Gordon. But combine means to bring into a state of unity; to join forces for a common purpose.
So either two alien races get together and attack city 17. I want to know:bounce: I want to know:bounce: I want to know:bounce: I want to know:bounce:

"you want to know"...erm well thats pretty stupid, if you were to know say yomorow, what would make you want to actually play HL2 if you know? Why not wait until the game is released to experience it and understand the storyline? Your respect for HL2 will be much more I may add if you just wait and find things out on your own.
