Back in the real world (where the sun still shines and a little wavy pink baldy smiley man bobs from side to side on my desk), Sony has approximated this spherical servitude in the most effortlessly cheerful manner possible with one of the most perfect examples of handheld gaming ever made. Please welcome LocoRoco into your lives.

Aside from experimental unlocks and silly novelties, the LocoRoco experience is one of undiluted fun. If the tilting, blob moving puzzle-platforming doesn't warm your heart, then the catalogue of alarmingly addictive psychotic J-Pop tunes will have you dancing around the living room. Bound together by bite-sized playability, endless secrets and the most charming 2D visuals ever conceived, LocoRoco is the perfect distilation of everything a handheld game should be. It's the sort of quirkily original PSP title that we've been screaming for - buy it and smile all summer long.

I've played the demo and was amazed how fun it was, definitely going to get this.

I'm glad you noticed it. But the irony of this game is that it could have been done as well on the DS if not better, and it's probably not going to score the PSP much points with the critics because of that.
But you have to admit, it takes guts to make a title like that, totally original, and without any cameo's from popular franchises to bring it under the attention of gamers.

i just got the demo a few mins ago...WOW..music kicks ASS!!

Hehe, true. It’s very nice. :)

I like how you control the world in the game, you control it with the shoulder buttons on the PSP, pressing anyone will tilt the world to that side and will make the blob roll to that direction. Holding down one of the buttons and releasing it will make the blob jump up into the air. Holding down both will make it jump straight up.
It can be a little difficult at first but after a while you get hang of it.

This is the one game on the PSP I desperately want, I absolutely love the art style and concept of the game. Too bad it's not a DS game, I honestly think this style of game would have a bigger fan base on a Nintendo system.

WTF? Those game images look like some kind of 7 years old cartoon...

How does the gameplay works?

So? :O Some of the best games ever have stylised cartoon visuals.

Well, you control the world by flipping it to the left and right, doing so will make the blob (the big yellow smiley you see in the pictures, you can control other different blobs too) roll to that side. To flip the world to the right side, for an example, you need hold down the right shoulder button on the PSP, releasing the button will make the world go back into position. By clicking one of the shoulder buttons fast will make the blob jump to that side you’re flipping, but it’ll not jump very far. To make it jump farther, flip to the side you want and then click on the other shoulder button and it’ll jump greater.
Holding down both buttons will make the blob jump straight up right into the air.
By collecting green vegetables (or whatever it is), the blob grow more and more. If you get injured, one small blob will jump out but you can collect it again if you’re fast enough.
Sometimes you come across tight areas that the blob can't fit into, in order to continue you need to make the blob "explode" into smaller blobs. To do that, just click the circle button fast and a lightning will strike the blob.
Holding down the circle button will make the smaller blobs morph together into a big blob again.
It maybe sound confusing, but it's actually quite simple when you get hang of it.

I’m really looking forward to the full version. :)
