Well problem is simple: I bought HL2 from a friend who gave me Steams user and passwrd but they are not working, i dont think that he tricked me so what should be the problem. Some said, that maybe i've updated Steam, some said, that account is not active cuz that guy hasent logged in for about 2 weeks.
And IF these codes are wrong, can I deactivate his account and creat new with this cdkey?

its never a good idea to do that honestly.
so u think ur friend didn't trick u? im not saying he did but is there another explanation why? i can't think of one.

i've had trouble logging in before but not because anything other than Steam connectivity was limited during that time.
as for updating, it should not cause login trouble.
and no, u cannot deactivate his account.

u have a new CDKEY? sure use it...but if that CDKEY is ur friend's its not gonna work because the account is not under ur control.

anyway, all games should be bought at the store or from legit online sites...otherwise one is just asking for trouble.

Yeah, I know thats wrong but i cant buy it in store. Prizes are SO F***ING HIGH:O cannot afford. Only thing i figured out is, that i should go and beat that guy up:P

IF YOU TRUST YOUR FRIEND AND ASSUMING THIS IS A LEGAL COPY
first check that you have the correct login details AND that your friend has uninstalled his off his computer = this is the most likely problem
otherwise you can delete your client registry blob...

If the user/pass is correct, it will work, because you can login to your Steam account from any computer. So either he changed the password or he didn't give you the right user/pass in the first place.

diluted is correct
either the details are wrong or he was using his account while you were trying to access it

So either way he screwed me!
But john3571000 said, that he have to uninstall it. I dont get it, if he's not logged in, then it should not be my concern. But still, its my almost last chance so I hope john3571000 right.

no he doesnt have to uninstall but its better that he does because he could still use hl2 on a regular basis preventing you from playing and/or he could have steam autostarting when he logs on to his computer again stopping you from accessing it

You people confuse people so much, keep it simple.

If you are logged in and you can see the games the email and password were correct.

If you cant, they are wrong.

If you are logged in but you cant play them, its because hes still logged in. If he logs out you should be able to play fine.

If he has it on his computer but he's not logged on or using steam in offline mode it doesn't matter. He should be able to play on another computer as far as i know.

Did you really get this account from your 'friend'. I mean if your friend has an account and theres a problem with it, i would ask HIM, considering it is his. This thread make it sound as if you are not talking to him, or perhaps you've stolen this account. Who knows, the story just sounds suspect.

Ok thanks:)
One more thing. On a steam login window there is a button: Retrieve my account. so i clicked, entered cdkey but email with passwrd was sent to HIS email. Is it possible that Steam changed the password when I sent the request??

Well I didn't stole it, it cost me a big sum of money, thatswhy Im so upset. If i cant log in then its like throwing money into the wind.

Why didn't you just get your own steam account and buy hl2 off steam?

Mkay what means offstéam. If you mean like buying HL2 in a store without a steam then i already said that it was too expencive. and when i say TOO then its TOOOOO expencive. And i wonder how can i make my own account when this cdkey is already in use.

You go onto steam, you click on the tab to make the program bigger, then you purchase a package....

have u made ur own account on Steam?
if u have...login and click the "browse games" tab... the prices for games are cheaper on Steam than in stores.

well...good luck.
