Long saving time - is that normal ?

First I say hello to everyone

I started to play this superb game, and I like it very much. It's way better than competitive Doom3 (where all time You've got dark, tight corridors ... ugh). Everything works fine and smooth but I've got one question. In my case I've got quite long saving time (about 30+ sek.), during which I hear looping sound, and of course screen freezes. But not always - sometimes (10%) the game saving very quick - not even more than 1sek. So what is going on ? My Pc isn't newest but handle with HL2 quite good (P4 2,4ghz, 1,5 GBRam, GF4 Ti 4600 128MB and defragmented hd), and never in any other game saving time last longer than 5sek. So ?

Try to uninstall some things on your comp, maybe it is spam?
On mine it saved instantly! (XPS M1710 Notebook, intel, windows vista)

For me it does take a little less time around 10-15 seconds but 30seconds isn't that abnormal for an average player.
But here are my suggestions:
1:lower game settings a notch that might cut off a bit of time.
2:remove games from your comp that you no longer play.
3:buy some more RAM though with your specs i doubt that's an issue
4: DONT WORRY if you cant fix it it wont seriously detract from the gameplay if you enjoy it as much as you say. =D

If you have Norton AV installed, I believe that hooks into the system I/O calls and scans every file written. That can take some time.

Mine saves instantly. Your system specs aren't exactly top of the range though, Pentium 4 is pretty old. Time to upgrade, perhaps?

That's fine. Pentium 4 should work fine, no problems.
