Im a happy boy now :bounce:

EDIT - SOrry links kinda screwed.. here the message from www.computerandvideogames.com

16:21 Half-life 2 at ECTS - it wasn't quite what we'd hoped for, we'll admit it. Y'know, it still looks ace and all, but previously seen E3 footage, previously heard E3 speech, and a ban on questions that might expose any new information whatsoever - what the hell is that?
Oh well, at least developer Valve didn't compound our disenchantment with release date woes.

Despite whisperings of slips, Valve's Doug Lombardi stated: "the release date is unchanged". Top news indeed; that's just over a month away, mathmatically challenged Freeman fans. In the meantime, we'll be running the first part of our interview with Mr Lombardi later today...

Everyone knows how completely stupid EB and Gamespot personnel can be when it comes to the release date for HL2, but I have to share my frustration with you guys since I know alot of you'll relate.

I was at Gamespot today picking up my copy of SC2 when I asked the so-called manager if he'd heard about the ETCS confirmation of September 30th.

To make a long story short, this dickhead (who btw thinks he's hot shit for going to E3 *lmao - I've been there the last 4 years too*) kept insisting that I was "uninformed" and that he'd talked to their Viendi(sp) rep last week who told him that everyone at VU was worried that HL2 might not even be out by the end of their fiscal year which is March 2004. I pretty much proceeded to laugh in his face, but he kept acting like I was insane and said stuff like...

"Gamespot is the WORLD'S LARGEST chain, I think we'd know if it was coming out in a month."

I told him about that it's been confirmed by Valve, and that VU has already admitted to a "miscommincation", but he kept insisting that he was right, saying "The Viendi rep told me... Feb 2004."

I don't blame this idiot for being so misinformed as he has to rely on his trusty monitor to tell him if the sky is blue or pink, but this guy's comination of knowitall attitude and narrowminded thinking really PISSED ME off. I wanted to beat his stupid ass down.

I sarcasticly told him that I'd call him to update the computer after HL2 went gold. I also pointed out that the Gamespot website still has Sept 30th as the ADVERTISED release date.

I can't wait to rub it in this guys face when it goes gold and whatnot.

(btw I'm no HL2 fanboy. I normally wouldn't care what this idiot believed, but this guy's attitude needs to be checked big time.)

Lets hope Valve gives me that opportunity.

There's like 10 threads about this. My god people it's just a game.

I find it funny that Planet Half-Life is still insisting that there has been no official denial of the delay rumors. I guess ol' Fragmaster really doesn't want to have to fulfill his promise!

(For those of you out of the loop, Planet Half-Life's own Fragmaster promised that if Half-Life 2 were released on the promised day, he'd dress up as Gordan Freeman and stand on a street corner handing out copies of the game while loudly apologizing for his lack of faith in Valve. Furthermore, he agreed to video tape the whole humiliating ordeal and post it on the internet!

I bring this up as often as I can as I don't want him forgetting or trying to weasel out of his bold challenge.)

I bet when it's released on the 30th he'll still be insisting that it's not out. :E

^^^
I don't think he's thought all that through as he seriously never expected to be put in this position. I'm loving it, though, as PHL has been one of the biggest doubters who gleefully reported on the delay every chance they got.

I'm sure more details will be forthcoming once Half-Life 2 is actually released. At the moment, Fragmaster and the rest of the PHL staff are rooting for a delay for reasons that escape me.

I mean, look at this latest blurb on their front page:
Valve's marketing director, Doug Lombardi, has been confirmed as saying that, "the release date is unchanged" for Half-Life 2. Another Valve employee has been quoted as saying, "it'll be tight, but Half-Life 2 is still on for a September 30th ship."

Despite this, we are still of the opinion that Half-Life 2 will not be in stores September 30th.
I mean, what the hell! Doug Lombardi flat out said the game will be released September 30, yet they still doubt!

Yeah, I hate PHL.

Thugenstein, if it's "just a game" why would you visit these forums as well as the official ones for a game that is not out? Didn't you get banned from the official forums for being an ass?

Fragmaster really wants the game on time, but he's worryed that it actualy will be delayed due to Valves past tendencys. Fragmaster is using PlanetHalf-Life.com as his tool to execute a simple childs trick. Which involves making a mockery at Valve and their ability to release content on time, as a reverse phycology to make Valve work harder to release the game on time just to prove Fragmaster and all of PlanetHalfLife and its fanbase wrong. It's an old childs trick...

**EXAMPLE**
Fragmaster: "I bet you can't run into the kictchen and get a cookie before I can!"
Valve: "Nuh uh! I can do it easy!!" *drops TV remote, runs to kitchen"
Fragmaster: *Laughs to himself, while grabing the remote, giving him claim to the TV.*

Edit: Err, that example sucked, but it doesnt take a rocket scientist to get the point..lol
