Hey, unannounced project looking for a coder for a quick couple things, mostly involving the camera. It shouldn't require more than a couple days work, so if you're interested, please drop me a line - [email protected].

Is this for what I think it's for?

Seems like a lot of people know what this "unannounced" project is except for the people you want to help you out :)

Not really a lot of people, only people relevant to development.

Sorry I couldn't help you guys, don't think I would be able to figure it out very quickly and I'm kinda busy nowadays :(

What do you need it to do?

-Angry Lawyer

I think Samon already PM'd you. Or he was going to. Either way, we definitely want to pester you about it. :)

I lost my MSN list and just added you back too, so maybe we can chat on there!

Hmm, Yorick playing crazy tricks with bribing Lawyer! :O

:D

Well, he's already angry, so you can't really reason with him.

Basically it comes down to bribes and threats. :P

I'm rarely on MSN D:

I'll try to get on later in the week.

isnt this the kind of post you tend to shit talk?

No, I shittalk projects which are lead by people who have no experience in any sort of gamedesign, people who want only to lead the projects and not contribute any work whatsoever, people who rehash ideas that have been around longer than Doom, and projects which are so ambitious that if they're ever finished, no one will care, because we'll all be dead.

In complete contrast to this, what I'm attempting to do is write the game, get it concepted and coded, then look for modelers and an additional mapper or two, and then go from there. It's a process. There's no website, I haven't said anything about what I'm doing. I'm not piling the project with useless morons, and I'm not biting off more than I can chew. And I'm not promising something that I can't deliver.

Thanks for the concern though, I'd hate to find myself becoming a hypocrite. :E

I seem to remember all this talk about people shouldnt bother recruiting if they dont make their concept public

kudos on doing a small mod though

Actually I think it might have been the type of thing where someone posted that they were hiring all positions but didn't want to spill the beans because they were worried someone was going to steal their ideas.

This is in planning (writing/concepting) and just going into early production with the coding, and I really just don't like the idea of coming out and saying what I'm doing without something to really show for it. Most of the mods that are announced are like that, and I don't want this to be seen as never moving beyond the point of 'concept'.

I could sit here now and spill the entire story, but the best reaction you could possibly have is "That would be cool - if they can pull it off". I could say it's going places, but I'd rather focus on being able to show it. I'll love to talk more about it when it's at a stage that I actually have something to reveal.

plz to tellin me the mod yorick i might make you a websight

You didn't list a resume, which says to me that you're not letting the past hold you back. I'm also looking for someone who's not anal-retentive (To balance Samon LOLZ), and you obviously can't spell. So yeah, you're in.

If it's not made in MS Paint, I don't want it.

I can do all the PR, I'll put up posters in my school and on the street and beat up anyone who doesn't know about your mod :D

Well, no use putting up posters yet, but keep an eye out for coders. And you have my permission to beat up anyone who doesn't know coding.

All this talk about coding makes me want to write a C++.NET dll, and allow me to make C# mods.

Everytime I've been on MSN you've not beeen, beyotch. Point be towards forumage.

The lovable Angry Lawyer has been kind enough to agree to help out with teaching a coder some of the ins and outs, as well as provide advice, code snippets, and such. So, there's some damn good added incentive. :)

Also, I'm now looking for a character animator to do a few things. I want to update the topic but it won't let me, so spread the word around. ;)

GL with your project Yorick!

If you want to bounce your concepts off of someone, I'm always on MSN (still have that bug where it never shows you as online though).

I do Flash game development these days, but if I have any free time I'd be down for map design too. Sadly, the only coder I know is being driven like a slave to make my epic buoyancy themes Flash puzzle game a reality.

Cheers

Thanks bud :)

It's great to hear from you again, it's been a while. I'll definitely hit you up on MSN. And I've heard about the bug a few times with me, it's a safe bet that I'm always on. :P

If you have free time popping up in a month or so, I'd love to have you do some mapping too. And I'll have to check out your flash games sometime. :)
