Looking for a new router

I don't know much about routers and modems but I do know we need a new one. We currently have the AT&T 2Wire modem and for the past year it has been dropping the connection but lately it has gotten worse. Pretty much every 5 minutes the DSL & Internet lights go red and blink for about 15 seconds in which we lose internet connection. Eventually they go back to green and the internet is restored but this honestly happens every 5 minutes and is incredibly annoying. I called AT&T and the dude said the connection is fine but the modem is what is wrong. I'd like to keep it under about $150 for both a new router and modem.

If your not looking for particular features, then I would recommend grabbing a netgear router, they seem to last the longest in my experience.

If you have specific requirements, either find a router that meets them, or get a dd-wrt compatible router.

If you like simplicity (And cheapness) choose a route with a DSL modem built in. Almost all of them do these days anyway.
